    13T / 550cc Upgrade question

    Hi,

I just bought a set of 13T turbos along with the fuel system upgrades (550cc Injectors and Walbro 255lph fuel pump). Question is, will my stock MAF be okay with these upgrades?

i have 13T but with 450cc and 255lph pump. so I can say that up to 15-17psi you "should" be fine.

Absolutely. Sounds like a nice, simple set-up. Don't forget to upgrade the clutch

What are you using to tune? If you haven't bought a fuel controller already, then I'd suggest a MAFT setup, so you can run a larger GM maf.

Depending on how new he is to tuning, I recall lots of people complaining about drifting tunes with the MAF-T (I think it's because of the fixed barometric pressure signal)...

I'd be inclined to recommend an S-AFC in order to retain the stock MAF and keep the set-up as simple and stockish as possible.

(That said, I sold my S-AFC years ago and still use my MAFT)

Hmm. I've never had any tuning changes with mine, even after having the car sit for months/years at a time. I don't remember anyone talking about their tune drifting with it either, but it's been a long time. What I DO remember about the MAFT and problems with it, was that setting the base tune (injector size) was off significantly based on what it was supposed to be. I can speak from experience on that one, With my 550's, I think I have it set for 450's. (I have the MAFT v 2.01 or something like that.) LS6 maf.

If you plan to push that combo to it's limit, you could be giving up a bit of horsepower to the restriction of the stock MAFS, but it should work just fine...

Agreed... Although I am daily amazed by the LUK stock replacement clutch I put in my car 20K miles ago. It was a stock car back then, now it's got 13T's running 20psi, DSM 450's at 53psi base(500CC) spraying a bunch of meth. It hasn't given up yet,(knock on wood) apparently wheel spin is my friend... LOL

I have little personal experience to go on, but from what I've read and been told, the MAFT gen II , and MAFTPro are a considerable improvement over the original.

I don't think he is going to be giving up any hp with the 13T's pushed to their limits on a stock maf. I ran TD05 16Gs with a stock MAF at 25 psi and didn't notice the maf restricting my hp at all.

You may have misunderstood my meaning... The OP was asking if the stock MAFS would work for him. My position is that it will work just fine. It works just fine on my car, and it worked just fine on your car... However, it has been proven many times over that there are gains to be made from going blow through, or even going with a less restrictive MAF.
