    Do your seat belts retract?

In both my 92 RT and my 92 VR4 the seatbelts are loose and sloppy. I can get the seatbelt to ’hug’ me if i feed the seatbelt back into the rewinder, but every time I get out of the car I have to make sure that I put the seatbelt back on the drivers seat otherwise I’ll accidentally close my door on it.

I looked into getting a replacement rewinder last summer but iirc it was going to cost roughly $700 for two new seat belts. At the time I figured I would just cage/harness the car but now its looking like its going to stay a daily driver. Anyone ever take apart there seat belts and maybe adjust the spring or whatever rewinds the belts? Anyone got any ideas on how to fix the problem without spending a small fortune?

I've got a week off school coming up and would like to fix this problem...

oh, i tried the Armor-all tirck and it didnt do anything...

I would just pick up a set from a part out. It sounds like yours aren't retracting at all.

same.. mine suck. But they do something weird.. If I turn the car off and sit there about 30 seconds or so with the belt still on.. I will feel a tug, or jerk motion from it .. Idk its really weird

mine do that too. but its such a gentle tug that it cant even lift the buckle off the seat.

I’ve thought of getting a set of seatbelts from a partout but figured the chances of getting a good set of seatbelts was about as good as finding dash vents that arent cracked.

I bet if someone could find a solution for this problem, it would sell out fast.

    Mine stuck.

I clean then with Black Magic interior cleaner. Don't use armor all its crap.

Then they work fine until they get dirty again.

You'll be amazed how much crud you'll remove with a good cleaning. Make sure clean all the places where the belt contacts the car.
