I've been around these cars a long time... 550's are enough fuel (especially with meth injection) to get 500awhp. I'm not a notable tuner of these cars, but if any of them choose to chime in, I know they'd back me up and say 500 is achievable with those mods.

O no, sorry I didnt mean to come off as harsh in my post, granted Im a skeptic as well when it comes to mods, but one thing I do know is quality engine management does wonders when other components are not as far out as they could be - ie your 16G setup vs his less powerful 15G setup, or for example, my single Hx52 on my vr4 vs his 15G's - but 500 is doable on 15G's, it may be on the tippy top side of what they can push, but its doable........as far as tuner mags go, I find them entertaining mostly bc they showcase the stuff that are the "godzillas" of the platform, when really its more of a "gettin there" kinda deal to the guys on the forums for said platform. Take this vr4 for example, 500 awhp. They show it as an undiscovered titan on the road and using some nigh mystical hocus pocus to get the power he's tossing down. But honestly, for whats available to us, and the strength of out stock motors/trannies, 500 awhp just isnt that impressive anymore (relatively speaking to the awd 3s ) - so it just kinda makes me go "meh" - also I've quit reading super street entirely, their honda bias is ridiculous, and I like honda, but its sickening to see every other issue slap a mundane hatch on there with all of a roll bar, bride seats, rims, exhaust and jdm headlights as a cover story. Reminds me of z100 playing the same 40 songs for about 6 months straight on the radio......

Odds are he got in the magazine because he, you know, submitted something to the magazine. Amazing how that works.

Get your car that clean and actually take the time to submit an article, and you might be surprised. Personally, I'm too lazy.

I've been reading superstreer and modified magazine since I was about 10. And one thing I've noticed, most issues contain 3 different focus articles. A showcar, strictly performance, and a nice street car. Now I haven't picked up many issues in the last 3 years so that maybe different now. But it seems they usually cover a little bit of everything in each issue....n I think modified magazine is definetly more performance based or it was. I should dig mine up I have most of them dating back to 2002/3/4

Okay, I've done some research on potential power capacity for injectors and fuel pumps. All the 255 lph pumps claim up to 600 HP. That's crank HP. Six 550 cc injectors can support 502 HP at 80% duty cycle and a BSFC of 0.5. Again, these are crankshaft HP numbers. Estimates for drive train losses vary, but I haven't seen any for our AWD platform under 120. Maybe you can run the injectors higher than 80% duty cycle. Maybe his BSFC is as high as 0.6. Just sayin'.

We all know the numbers are high. I'm just glad to see a cool car in that mag instead of a ricer.

BTW Thadd I couldn't disagree more, I wouldn't be offended at all if my car were chosen to be in the mag. The 3s gives the mag some class.

Cool another 3/s in a main stream magazine

Honestly I could care less if the HP it claims is slightly off... so is probably most of the cars submitted to those magazines. I can't believe you guys have to rip of it when this is like the 3rd, maybe 4th 3/s in any mainstream magazine EVER!? I'm just glad that more people will probably recognize our cars after this issue....its not like the car had neons or 22" rims. Plus with 550cc injectors the HP claims are not that outrageous ....

    congrats to the owner!
