^^^I see a ton of jealousy in this thread.

People bitch about the Civic's and Integra's in all of these ricer magazines, and finally when one of our own ends up in one, people complain about the suspected power output based on the listed mods on the car?

    What do you people want?

Vacuum reduction, Powdercoated misc, cruise relocate, Evo9 BOV, Custom catch cans, Russell fuel filter, SS braided fuel lines, High flow fuel loop, Autogage fuel gauge, Catless DP, DNP Y-pipe, Fuel pump hotwire.

I would much rather see any 3S in a magazine than the same dam civic/integra/rsx. no matter what 'import' mag you pick up its full of the same BPU hondas. This is a nice clean 3000GT that deserves to be in a mag and imho puts all the fan boys to shame.

I just dont understand why these magazines feel the need to list EVERY little 'mod'. SS clutch line, NGK spark plugs/wires, poly motor mounts, ect. Lets be honest that’s just proper maintenance. Listing all the little things just makes it look like it took way more mods to hit 500whp than is really needed, then again I guess the editors need to list everything to make the cars they feature seam more extreme.

if Warren is on here; Congrads bro. the car looks great!
    the basic go fast bits...
forged short block, Billet DR1000's, 680cc injectors, meth inj, FMIC, MAFT, Apexi Neo, hotwired 255lph fuel pump.

Just to kinda put the hp debate to rest and to reclarify, im guessing the 630 hp noted is what their estimating at the crank

As for the skepticism for the 510 whp on pump/meth it wouldn't surprise me. Both Ray and Matt have both clearly stated they find a single walbro runs out at abt 550 awhp on our cars- now we need to factor the meth into the mix and remember that you need to approx. back off your fueling by 25% at your current level to compensate for the meth spray as a general rule of thumb, thus making his fueling stretch a lil futher and giving him more overhead on tap if he uses it/needs it for fuel.

Secondly the guys using a standalone ecu with timing access and rather precise fuel calibration vs an safc or ARC, heck, monochrome bagged an estimated 40+ awhp and 70+ wtq by reflashing the stock map with more aggressive timing and fuel trims without changing anything else in his stock car on 93 pump..... IE exhaust/boost, intercooling ect - we're pig rich and conservative in our base mapping - (10.3 fuel on on the stock ecu map at wot, and REALLY conservative timing on the stock injectors) so if the guy decided to push his setup more aggressively to hit what he has, with the added octane of the meth it doesn't surprise me hes broke the 500 whp mark on a standalone and meth fed on 15Gs- something that performs abt 50-70 awhp short of regular 19t's. Heck ray made 523 on pump/race mixed on dr650's- a redesigned 19T with billet wheel/redesigned turbine on a single hotwired walbro 255 on the stock fpr- no way to push up the pressure and get more out of it, just ran it as is and he did it on an safc/maft- rather primitive to the standalone just mentioned and on stock intercoolers and dp only with gutted precats. this guys got a FMIC to further cool the charge and exhaust. Just sayin...

AAAAaaaaaand jumping on the bandwagon, our cars don't actually get much props from the tunning community, do we have some more radical setups in our ranks than the guy in the mag? sure, but at least we're started to get some recognition outside of being regarded as the obese red headed stepchild to people unwise to our platform. its taken almost a decade and half in the aftermarket, but we're finally getting there next to RX-7's, Supras, ect ect

So shut up and be happy!

    End Rant

I guess I'm jaded. I'm not into import magazines (or any other car magazines, for that matter), so maybe I shouldn't comment. I have owned/built/modified/raced a variety of cars over the last 48 years. Once upon a time (aka "back in the day") I read every car performance magazine in publication. Pretty much every "my car makes xxx horsepower with just yyy modifications" article was so full of misinformation and pure BS they were simply unbelievable. I don't know what theoretical HP one Walbro and 550 injectors might make. I don't have Ray or Matt's experience with this platform. I have owned/operated/modified three VR-4s for the past 7 years. Clearly not as much experience on this particular platform as many others have. But my wife's DD/Full AC/16G/fully built motor/24.5 mpg hiway VR-4 makes 598 AWTQ and 609 AWHP on pump gas with meth spray. I've had the car tuned in stock/19T/19T fully built/16G fully built modes. (Fully built includes all supporting mods, dual Walbros and 680 injectors in particular). Based on the experience I do have, I am skeptical about the HP claims, that's all. I'm not trying to hate on the car, I think it's very striking. I think a VR-4 in any publication is GREAT. I'm just a skeptic about performance magazine articles in general.
