Man, does your story hit home.
Would that your ex had been aiming at mine when she pulled the trigger.
Best of luck with your situation; keep us posted.

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.
Jeezus...hate the crazy beeches. It be nice if you could ignore it and have it go away...especially if its the attention she wants. I doubt you could be affected job wise by heresay; if you have everything documented well you should be good.
Bipolar disorder is a serious condition. While it may be easier to blame the person, it's very difficult for many to imagine exactly how much of a struggle these people are going through.
I have family, have lived with, and have dated women that have been clinically diagnosed. They have a tendency to bring great joy in your life, but also such disarray. The sooner you realize the battle these people are fighting internally, the better off you'll be at handling it and protecting yourself from falling into the emotion cycles that are usually associated with being close to someone with the disorder.
There's a lot of great resources out there for those that have bipolar spouses (or ex's/friends/etc), that I would suggest you look into. I don't think the legal system is your answer.
Hmm, I think your best move here is to ignore her. Bipolar is a condition that while it is disastrous to leave alone, it isn't your responsibility to pick up the loose ends and jump in. If she threatens you or your kids, just commit her... She has a reason to be committed.
I just want to say HOLY F ... And I'm sorry that this chick has made so much of your life so much more stressful than it needed to be.

No kidding. I dated a bipolar girl once, she didn't shoot herself but tried to slit her wrists several times. Whirled around and turned on me with a long chefs knife once, I was standing fairly close behind her, if I'd had another 10 lbs in the area of my gut, she would have disemboweled me. As it was I got a pretty painful cut across the stomach.
Ya know what's funny though? You hardly EVER hear of a man being bipolar.
Good GOD. One of my best friends started dating a long time female friend... I had no idea how crazy she was until the break up spiral began. She ended up slitting her wrist one night after fighting with him (she went across the wrist... She's a nurse... Take from that what you will). Since then she's done everything she can to fuck with him: breaking his apartment window, keying his car (repeatedly)... Literally stalking him. We've totally cut her out of our lives and hope she doesn't know our new address.
Bitches be CRAZY.
Man, this was a really crap thing to read. I'm sorry you are in this. Since you've been married to someone who is bi-polar, I won't assume that you don't know much about it. Therefore, I won't try to share my 'knowledge'.I wish you the best and hope that there is a favorable outcome for you and a safe, constructive outcome for her. I have concerns about her subbing at a school where she probably did not disclose her condition. If she is not medicated (properly) she could have a disastrous episode at school.
UTRacer, while I don't recall too many men being actually DIAGNOSED, I have known one or two and several more that probably would qualify. Trouble is, when you look at some of the symptoms of bi-polarism, they mirror a lot of 'typical' behaviors of a guy labeled as a jack ass. JMO, of course.Oh, and most men won't go to a doctor as quickly as a woman.
My wife is bi-polar and a wee bit of a chore to live with.
I love her to death.
There are a shit-ton of BP men out there, a fact I found out while researching bi-polar.
It would pay, I think, for anyone who has contact with a BP person to find out a few facts before judging.
I should clarify I was talking about my ex earlier - she is/was a sociopath; she may be bipolar as well, but she's way too crazy for that to matter much.
