Need Help With 99 Dome Light W/Homelink Install

[MY 94 VR-4]

Has anyone ever done an install with a 99 homelink dome light on a 94. I have a 94 VR-4. I bought a 99 VR-4 homelink dome light and was told by the guy that it would bolt up no problem. Well i tried to install it today and it don't line up with the holes to screw it up to my car and something is stopping it from mounting flush up where it is supposed to. Can someone help me out here? A guy told me that i would have to cut the mounting bracket out of the 99 car that it came off of and have it welded in place where my 94 one is located. Is there an easier way to do this being as i don't have the bracket that came from the 99 car?

Cut your factory mounts and use a marker to mark on your roof the me holes and carefully drill 2 small holes. I have done it on 3 cars all of them look like they came from the factory. You need to be very careful if you drill not far you will put a dimple or a hole in your roof.
