Progression of making an evil eye hood.

We recently modded a stock hood for the evil eye mod. Here are some pics to show you how it's done.

First we cut out some sheet metal to the basic shape needed.

Next we grind off the paint around the area so we can weld the sheet metal to the hood.

Now we clamp the sheet metal into place and get ready to weld.

Throw a couple of tack welds on it. Spaced apart so the hood doesn't warp.

    Fill in with more weld.

A picture of both sided welded up.

Ground the welds down and added some filler to smooth out the transition. We also fixed a bunch of other dents in the hood, but I don't have a picture.

Stripped paint down off the rest of the hood and primed it to get ready for paint.

    Painted and installed.

Nice work! Never even thought of modifying a stock hook to make it an evil eye. Guess it's a bit cheaper than buying a whole new FG or CF one and doesn't look that difficult.

    Looks great!

Awesome idea doing it to a OEM hood. Hood shocks FTW.

If you could make this work with 99 headlights and the hood still line up with the fenders/bumper (w/o any gaps, fits like original) I would so buy one from you. Oh and there could be no "rubbing" on the headlights (got to keep those things looking mint when the hood is raised.
