Boss usually makes crap product! You can buy it at Wal-Mart, which is a good indicator. Also, 4-way speakers sound like garbage, 2 or 3-way is fine.

Thanks for input. I am being enticed by the price.

I hate going into the local Walmart's around here...always feel like I need to be packing a weapon lol.

does discount jungle still have good deals?

    *edit*

looks like they don't have a discreet website any more, but they do have an amazon storefront.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=...560&sort=price

i bought my 220gto's from these guys WAY back when (along with my pioneers). cost me ~$120 to replace all the speakers in the car; and those were the top-of-the-line pioneers.

Try and look for closeouts, those are usually the best deals you'll find anywhere. I've had good luck with ebay as well. Another place I like to get speakers from is Parts Express, check out their buyouts, sometimes they've got ridiculous sales on car speakers. I'd have better info for you, but I usually get employee pricing on speakers which isn't a fair representation of speaker prices on the market lol

4-ways only sound like garbage because they are not properly set up. Try telling a SQ champion that his 4-way active set up sounds like garbage.

Issac is correct in a 2 or 3-way set up will do you fine unless you are a audiophile nut, but with thinking about using a boss product tells me that you are not. The more speakers you add to a set up 2 3 4 ect way is that you invite that many more problems into the set up to get the phasing and x-over points correct.

With a little bit of "tinkering" you can take just about any 2 way component set up and put the tweeter in the dash and the mid-range in the door.

Thanks for the information all. There is almost too much to choose from. Thinking about these with the stock head unit>>>

I have experience with them, they sound flat and are vulnerable to heat. Boss is a boutique brand owned by the Pyramid group. Yes, Pyramid group owns Pyramid audio/electronics. The also own: Lanzar, "American Audio", Pyramid America, and many other "off brand" car audio electronics.

Avoid all their speakers and head-units. Their amps are acceptable for driving sub-woofers, but that is about it.

Clarion and eclipse are also one and the same. Their head units/amps are acceptable, but the speakers are junk.

Working in the business for a short time opens your eyes. 75% of available car audio is poor quality, and many of the "brands" are the same company, using the same designs, under a different name.

When looking for a quality speaker, look at who the upscale OEMs are using. (not counting chevy using BOSE in everything back in the day) Such as Cadillac and Bose, or Lincoln and Harmon Kardon, or Chrysler and Infinity. The most impressive OEM I have heard, and one of the most impressive for quality ever was a Lincoln LS with the Alpine OEM system. Clean, Clear, Loud, with punch to back it all up.

My favorite? Toss up between Alpine and Infinity.

    Ernest
