    An amazing athlete.

Saw this last night on 60 minutes, thought some people would enjoy it.

Geeze 60 minutes... Commercials on a 13 minute video clip? Wow. This video wouldn't play in Chrome and crashed IE the first time I tried to play it. It consistently showed the 7 second Pfizer ad though!

That said....... Holy shit. I've done enough climbing (just indoors) to appreciate how impossibly difficult that is.

i just don't get why people do that. he doesn't get an adrenaline rush. plenty of other stuff you could do that provides a challenge--without the threat to your life.

He says that, but who really knows. It takes immense emotional control to achieve that. The mental control/suppression of fear is one of the most critical aspects of sports and this dude is a master. Plenty of other stuff?! He's been doing this since he was 10 and has reached the highest level of achievement in the field.

most of the video's I've seen of the monkey man are of much shorter climbs maybe 100 feet, and while they are for sure difficult and he climbs super fast up them, I don't find that nearly as impressive myself to a climb of literally thousands of feet.

alex says himself that he is an endurance climber. its two different styles. i would say they are equally as good, monkey man is a bit more flashy though

Just watched some monkey man clips.

In my mind, Honnold wins and it's not even remotely close. Monkey man requires specific geometry and/or nice big holds to climb. The clips I saw him in were all climbing man-made surfaces. Honnold climbed mofugging half dome. I was at Yosemite this past summer and it's just mind blowing to me that he climbed this without rope.
