I had a Southbend Stage 4 FE clutch also. Pedal pressure was like stock. I never should have sold it because I bought it on IPS's black friday sale but I had to fund a 3S purchase. I currently have a Spec 3+ in the Stealth I plan to install DR-750s on. I'd go back to the Southbend Stage 4 FE in a heartbeat though.

I'm a little concered about the reports of the stage 4 fe fusing to the flywheel. Anyone have some input? I intend to slip it a bit when launching, I'm not going to dump it.

Just don't hot lap it at the track and you'll be fine. Of the ones I've seen it lock up on they did back to back passes at the track with no breaks. Because of the material it's made out of it needs to cool down between heavy use. Slipping is going to heat up the clutch faster but I'm sure you know to preload the drivetrain then let the clutch out.

I'd still prefer to slip the clutch a little bit to take the slack out of the drivetrain and not wear everything out for no reason. It should also prevent some wheelspin.

pretty much any clutch I'd give 15-20 minutes break between passes anyway. Is this what we are talking about or do they need more time to cool then that?

I'm still on the fence about just getting a 6 puck disk. They are only like $150.00. I wouldn't have to worry about selling my pressure plate. It just sucks that I've never driven one to see how streetable it is.

Build looks good so far man keep it up. I'm doing very similar things to mine but it seems every time I come to a point where I have to ask myself whether I should stay on the cheap or go all out I seem to already know the answer should be go all out. Your build is definitely going way faster than mine though as I'm at a financial halt due to moving.

    That IC looks badass.

Thanks Jeff, in many respects that is how this build went. I hadn't planned on upgrading the turbos or FMIC at the beginning, but I have an online store that really took off last fall and I had good cash flow. Things have of course slowed down after Christmas, so I'm trying to reign in the budget. The clutch is the last big thing I need to decide on. The 750 ft/lbs rating on the fe clutch sure looks nice, but the price isn't super friendly and I'm still worried about the thing fusing. I don't abuse my clutch, but I got my best launches when I used it a bit to get the car rolling out of the hole hard.

The ETS kit makes the cxracing one look pretty pale in comparison. The piping on the csracing kit is really pretty good though, I'd upgrade just the core if you'd like to save a bunch of cash.

You gotta slip the clutch for at least a fraction of a second. There's no reason to intentionally shock load your drivetrain. I'm not saying ride it; just hesitate with your foot on the way up.
