    Embarrassing alarm

So, the switches on my door jambs have never worked. When I open the door, the interior lights don't come on... well, they decided to clean themselves off, and this started a huge problem.

I have an aftermarket alarm that is tied into various etacs wires. When the door switch started to work, the FACTORY alarm started to go off. Now, I can't get it to shut off unless I unplug the battery, because my door locks are shaved off (not by me, don't ask).

What I think is happening, is there aren't any sensors on the lock cylinders that say the door is being unlocked by my aftermarket remote, and when the door jamb switch grounds, the car thinks it's being broken into.

The 1g's have the whole grounding the LG/W wire to disarm the alarm, but I have a 97, and I haven't been able to locate any disarm wires in the wiring diagram. What are my options to get this to stop?

Vacuum reduction, Powdercoated misc, cruise relocate, Evo9 BOV, Custom catch cans, Russell fuel filter, SS braided fuel lines, High flow fuel loop, Autogage fuel gauge, Catless DP, DNP Y-pipe, Fuel pump hotwire.

The etac's wiring should have a factory alarm disarm wire just like the other cars. Without key cylinders for testing the wire though you may have a tough battle in front of you. I would pop off a door panel and see if the wiring is still there even though the key cylinder may not be.

I actually found the cylinder still inside the door with the wiring attached to it. It was just hanging there. Is there anything I can do with that wiring to make it think the alarm is always disarmed?

You should be able to. When the key cylinder is turned to the unlock position it grounds the factory alarm disarm wire going to the etacs. I would suspect that you would have to just tie two of the wires together but if memory serves me correctly there are three in the harness. I would sugest reviewing the service manual for the correct wires.

Why don't you just pull the factory alarm relay?

I don't see a single relay in the circuit diagram that would render the stock alarm useless? I see a horn relay and a starter kill relay, but nothing that would kill the entire system.

I suppose I could mess around with the lock cylinder wiring and see if the system disarms when it grounds. I think it does. I see nothing in the diagram for a starter kill wire at the etacs.

Because the factory alarm doesn't disable the starter. Its just a passive alarm.

If I remember correctly someone once said the relay for the factory alarm is around the underdash fuse box.

I was able to successfully disable the alarm today.

I used a method thought up by someone else, but I modified it to be wired at the etacs, instead of the trunk. I'll do my own write up, since I found virtually nothing for 2nd gen's on how to easily disable the alarm.
