When the media shows the kid and father getting into their car, he has that "i just won the lottery" look on his face... Sorry, but true.

No one said it was necessary. I just have no sympathy for his dumb ass.

I understand and agree with the right to shoot a fleeing felon. What I object to is them beating him once he was subdued. I understand the police have a difficult job but if they can't do the job without dispensing their own justice, maybe they should seek a different profession.
I believe the closest I've ever come to dying was at the hands of two Temple City police officers who decided to harrass us as we left a bar there. We were all but strip searched, made to lie face down on icy concrete for a half hour while they ransacked the van we'd drivin there, and then had pistols drawn on us because we headed behind their car to get the license number to file a complaint.
I first tried to ask for a badge number, but cop #1 (R.D. Molina, I later learned) just got WAY up in my face, hand on pistol, and said "You don't need my name, you don't need my badge number, we can just settle this here."
I sez "To hell with it, I'll just take your license number." THat's when the guns came out. I stopped, raised my hands, and asked "Are you going to shoot me for getting your license plate number?" They actually had to think about it a moment before putting away their weapons. Molina pulled a card from his pocket, threw it in my face, and left.
I shudder to think how it would have ended had there not by this time been a couple dozen people standing on the sidewalk watching.
They never gave a reason for stopping us in the 1st place.
Some people just shouldn't be cops. That simple.
