That price for the 2500K pops up pretty often. You said you couldn't find it for that price, I proved you wrong. You can't go adding stipulations after the fact. The entire thing can come down to this: If you want a cheap, bang for the buck cpu, go AMD. If you want the best, go Intel. There's no arguing that any which way.
As for the Steam comment - Steam does not remove a companies in-place DRM. A good example would be Batman: AA. Though I installed it through Steam, I still have to use it's retarded DRM that makes me activate each install and then deactivate it before uninstalling plus it and DoW II had to go through GFWL even though I activated it through Steam. My steam library (most of it): SteamCalculator.com - How much is your Steam Account worth? - I am not new to this wonderful little program.
I stand by most of you when I say that these companies are starting to shoot themselves with their turning to consoles for their games. Console gamers are loyal to 2 things: Their parents so they don't get kicked out and CoD/BF (whichever one is their flavor). Most console players I know don't even buy the games anymore. They rent from Gamefly or Blockbuster or wherever. PC gamers on the other hand seem to build relationships with companies. Just look at the Intel vs AMD thing going on here, and I won't get into the love affair most gamers have with Gabe Newell. Most PC Gamers feel that they are being betrayed by the companies that they built up with their money (Crytek is the poster child for this). I can see GSC failing as well with STALKER 2 this way since it's going both console port and have draconian DRM on top of it. If id thinks they can make their living off consoles, I can see them failing as well with their slow churn rate on new games on their lack of recognition with console players.
TL;DR - game developers are biting the hand that feeds them, and will get themselves hurt in the process.
user created content has always been dominant on PC. while this content does not directly add to the coffers of the game developers, it is this content which creates enduring appeal which can--in turn--generate additional game sales. odd that developers are so blind to this.
Yep. I know I keep going back to STALKER, but once again this is a game that fits your description there. The game out of thew box is ok, but really buggy. Thankfully, it is extremely easy to modify, and the Complete 2009 modification for it really brings out the best in the game and makes it a truly awesome experience to play. I guess developers are too blind to realize that the community is just as important as the developers. If the community doesn't like your product, it's going to fail no matter how good you think it is,
I am very disappointed in Rage. The texture popping pretty much makes it unplayable.
So far @4214 it has been stable all weekend. Today I get my video cards and will start overclocking them.
Then its off to benchmark.

The fact that it takes 2 extra cores for AMD's inferior architecture to keep up with Intel's quads is sad. I'm sorry but I can't say it's impressive that AMD's 6 core CPU can hardly keep up with and in some situations surpass Intels 4 core CPU's in a single type of test. I do know that the Thubans strong point is encoding etc, please do consider we are in the topic FPS games.
Also do keep in mind that you are comparing the 1075T with the i5 750. I'm talking about the 2400 and the 2500 vs the 1100t. As you see below the 2400 is superior in every area. There is really no reason to not spend the extra $30 for a 1100T or 2400. You can also find the 2500k on sale for the price of a 1075t if you're lucky.
Compare Intel Core i5-2500 (Sandy Bridge 4c),
Intel Core i5-2400 (Sandy Bridge 4c), Phenom II X6 1100T Hexa Core Processor, Intel Core i5-750s (Lynnfield 4c )
It's $189 (Same as the 1100t) on Newegg, I'm sure you can find it consistently that price and cheaper in other places.
Alan please just admit that you're mad that you are stuck with an AMD system. :P

it's doubtful that the extra cores make a lot of difference; most software still isn't optimized for more than 2 cores. i remember seeing benchmarks for dual vs. quad--and the results being much the same.
