Now, now... don't pick on the AMD fan. They haven't had anything to stand on since Intel woke up from their multi-year inebriation known as the p4.

I've been nursing along this old q6600 for ~4 years now. Tax return will be paying for me a shiny new Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge-E setup (or maybe IB-E if it's out then?) and this rig will be broke down into the wife and kids computers. I'm looking forward to see how long the next computer will hold up.

This^... I have been running the i7 for a while now. yeah I love it but after lots of research and working with other processors in class, I have quickly learned Intel is great for Servers and the like. However when it comes to gaming AMD has the better market simply because of cost and the fact both brand perform nearly the same. AMD has come a long way since the 90s, because of them Intel doesnt control the PC market anymore.

I'm not going to leave them alone until they realize they are wrong.

The same results from another source.

AMD/ATi do have it down when it comes to GPU's but their success there does not transfer over to CPU's.

I can't imagine any PC lasting as long as the domination combination of the q6600 and the Nvidia 8800 series. Thats what I'm running since 07 and BF3 is the first game that's crippled my PC.

momentary snapshot of a brief period of time. intel taking the value crown from amd is even more fleeting than nvidia taking the performance crown from ati. the trend has been--and continues to be--that amd has the best value for the money. long term trends prove this.

better still, amd's upcoming integrated cpu/gpu solutions will THAT much better for gaming than intel's pathetic "on board" graphics or slapping an nvidia card in an intel motherboard.

amd has been the value king since the k6-2. next thing we know, you'll be telling me that dell pc's are "leet".

Downloaded the Battlefield 3 beta on PS3, and I have to say one thing. If the game is anything like the beta, I'm gonna be seriously pissed off.

This ^ The game will be much better. It does suck that you won't get the online experience that you would from Live but the graphics might looks a little better.

    amd v intel
    mac v pc
    nvidia v ATI

You will never convince someone on the other side. Argue only if you enjoy beating your head into a wall

At the time I got my x6 it was not the best bang for the buck. It did kill all of the similar priced Intel in media encoding. The media encoding speed with the ease of upgrade from the 5000+ I'd had kept me in the AMD camp.

ON thread topic, I should have Rage tommorow

rage looks VERY promising...but i'll wait & see. sad thing is, Id hasn't offered as good FPS's as Epic in the last 10 years, imho. yet epic has apparently sold out to bloodly consoles (gears, etc). it would be nice if rage hasn't dropped the ball. i won't hold my breath; it IS a console release as well.

I liked D3 which was their last real project. (at least from the core team) Anything since then has just been teams working with the engine.
