Thread: I have a chance to buy a Stealth RT TT!

I have a chance to buy a Stealth RT TT!

I found a 1995 Stealth RT TT for sale in my town. The car is up on blocks and the engine is out (they say its rebuilt). I believe its has all the options leather, glass roof 6Spd. But the car is definetly rough with 130000 Miles. My question is how hard will it be to reinstall the engine what it intails and what to look for when checking over the car pics soon. Also how much to offer they want about 3000

Whoah, might be a rough one to start out with. That situation can either go really good or really bad depending on how many parts they still have, and if they say it comes with everything ask that means stock everything or simply a back to running everything because a lot of us on the forums don't have a lot of little randoms that the car came with from the factory (vac lines, clutch vac assist, abs, rear wheel steering, ...). How rough is rough and can they show documentation on the new motor? Has the motor been sitting out? The trans can also be a pretty penny, is it rebuilt as well?

The car in its current state has mulitple dents and dings one major one on the left rear quarter the interior is livable but needs a drivers seat cover. It is up on cinder blocks with no wheels or tires on the car but comes with them. The roaters need turned atleast (rust). The trans has not been rebuilt is still in the car. All i know about the engine is it is on a stand in their garage and its been rebuilt. Do I need to worry about turbos with a 138832 mile car?

Eh, looks more like a parts car . I wouldnt do it unless you have the time and money to replace a lot.

Mine is at 166K miles and as far as I know the turbo's are still original. All depends on how it was taken care of and driven.

I would pass or talk the seller down. For a little more money you could have a running vehicle.

bought my running/driving 94 with about same body damage for $2800 to give you a comparison.

I would say a 1k to 1.8k depending on the paper trail of the motor.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

3k is high. more like 2k max. an immaculate rolling-shell of a 95 is probably worth 3k.

keep in mind that good-condition, stock, running 2g tt's sell for 6k-8k all the time. this one not only needs motor/trans, it's rough everywhere else too.

...now if it was a 96, it's probably worth about 3k--at least to me. i'd be willing to spend more to preserve/restore a 96 tt.

again, i'm not saying this 95 isn't worth it...but it does seem a bit high; especially since it's a green one.

I decided to pass on it definetly needed to much for my budget. I'm still on the look out for one tho. Thanks for all the information guys! Now I have a 1995 AWD eclispe that im looking at that needs a turbo for 2800$ but im going to offer 1800$. I think its alittle more accessable as far as parts and diy.
