    September 11th 10 Year Anniv

    Sooo.....

10 year anniversary is coming up for Sept. 11th

I don't know about you, but I'm dropping my xbox controller, staying out of my garage, I'm going to forget about my political thoughts, my guilty pleasures, and I'm going to go out at 8:46 (7:46 my time) and I'm going to hang my American flag off my back porch of my apartment; and I'm going to remember the near 3000 people that lost their lives on that day, and the several hundred people who gave their lives tryig to save others.

I was young, (19 now) but I remember that morning very well, I also remember after that day, America had united itself like no other time before; I feel like that unity is lost, and people are already starting to forget that day, and what happened and why. I want to hope on this 10 year anniversary, maybe I will see that unity again.

I am very thankful and lucky no one in my family was involved in 9\11, but because of 911 I have had many friends and family fight for this country, some even die; and i hope that they will be remembered that they are\were out there for you fighting for us, risking their lives you, me, our families.

for just one day, forget the conspiracy's, healthcare, Casey Anthony, video games, cars, your starbucks coffee, whatever might be your obsession or pleasure; and just remember what happened.

RIP to the 2977 victims of 9\11.

    246 on air planes
    411 emergency workers
    125 at the pentagon
2195 n the world trade center

In my lease agreement, I was told no flags were allowed to hang off my back porch because of other cultures living in the complex. for this one day, I'm going to forget that, because it is no excuse when remembering a day such as that.

please join me in remembering 9\11.

    +1

I remember it like yesterday. It is hard to believe it’s been 10 years, it feels like 3-4 at the most. Glad you mentioned this, I’ve wanted to install a large flagpole and I might just do it for this event.

I remember quite vividly. At that time, I was 13 years old. I remember out teacher stopped class and took us all into one of the teachers' lounge so we could watch it on the news for the duration of that class.

I'll be visiting Ground Zero just a day or two before 9/11... Saying prayers and remembering those who lost their lives in that horrible tragedy. I, too, remember it like it was yesterday. I'll leave NY before 9/11, or I'd be there to remember the moment the towers were hit, and the moment they crumbled. You're right, too... We united like never before. Unfortunately, we later fell apart like never before, too.

I was atop the WTC on 8/11/00; my sister was in the WTC during the 1993 incident (she wasn't hurt), and I think the reason we went up was 'cuz it was more-or-less disallowed after 1993.

New York blows me away (I've been to most of the big cities, and none of the rest of them do a thing for me); it is the most singularly fascinating place I have ever been.

Been back twice since 9/11, and I can't shake the feeling of desolation I felt on 9/11.

I won't miss any of the commemorative programming, but it will only make me sad and angry all over again.

At some level, I suppose that's the point.

I use to live 20 minutes south of NYC. It was so hard when I got on the Path and took it to the WTC. The train would make a big loop around where the WTC towers stood. They tried to block the excavation with black tarps, however you could get a glimpse through where the tarps were missing. I use to get an empty feeling as the train headed for the last stop. I never took a pic as I thought it would be very disrespectful. I miss NYC, it is by far the best city in the country. There is so much culture, so many sights to see, so many people who have been through tragedy and those very same people have excelled and still made NYC the best city.

I'm living in Tennessee but my heart will always be in NYC. I will be in NYC the day the new building opens. The developers have put so much thought into it. I can't wait for the day it will open.

My ex was supposed to be up in NYC on the day the towers were hit. Thanks to intuition he was not. It ultimately ended up costing him his job with AIG but at least he got to live to see another day. He would have been in the lobby when the plane hit.

Anyone catch the multiple part documentary on the building of the new towers? It is on Discovery. Really interesting show.
