Recording Guitar & Drums on my PC

I've posted this in another forum awhile ago but haven't gotten a response. Maybe someone here has had a similar experience.

I finally got around to using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) called Reaper that I got when I bought my amp a couple years ago. I've also installed a virtual drummer plugin called EZdrummer w/multiple mic capabilities that works inside Reaper.

I'm using ASIO for my audio drivers. My onboard mic is used for guitar input and my Audigy card is being used for output. I am able to record 24bit Studio quality with no latency just fine. However, when I do any recording I start getting a choppy sound after a few minutes. The sound is similar to playing music through a blown speaker that fades from gradual to a very heavily distorted sound. If I restart the program it goes away.

    Any suggestions?

Audigy a pci card? 33/66mhz bus was a bottle-neck for me back in the day when I did recordings and you might be saturating at full duplex. Might want to try some of the newer high end cards with a pci express slot.

I wish I could help you with this but I've always been more of a hardware recording guy. I'd say it has something to do with your computer though.

LinchpinJoe might be able to help you.
