    Weird electrical issue... doesn't crank.

I didn't know how to fit a descriptive title without overloading it, so I'll try to put everything in the body. I was working on my car earlier this week with a friend - it cranked fine but fuel sprayed everywhere on the first turn. We unplugged the MFI, then bolted down the fuel rail. Then it wouldn't crank, and still won't.

The fuel pump (walbro) is hotwired, and used to prime when I put the key to the on position. Now it only buzzes when I'm cranking it. The starter never engages either, and the starter power wire is somehow acting as a ground wire. I took the battery to get tested and it's fine.

I don't really know what is going on, or even how that's possible - and since the manuals don't cover really random shit like this I'm not sure where to go from here. Anyone have a similar issue happen to them? Or have any ideas?

Run another ground from starter to frame and frame to battery. Disconnect hot wire from starter and clamp a jumper cable to the terminal and run it back to the battery. So it's not cranking Trev? Gimme a buss on my work cell if need be.

Yeah, no crank at all. I had 0 compression on a cylinder after Ivan and I changed the VSS so we thought we bent a valve, but when we pulled the cover off a rocker had fallen off the spring. Somewhere in putting it back together all of this happened. We cranked it to check compression but fuel sprayed out of the rail, so we bolted down the rail and it wouldn't crank anymore... It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes between attempts.

I'll give that a shot when I have some time, but I would expect a call from me sometime soon haha.

Which pins do I attach a jumper to to test the starter relay? I pulled it out yesterday but there are four of them.

I beleive left to right. There should be a diagram printed on relay. If its not swap in another relay like ABS etc.

You said you had the battery tested and it came back good, but those tests arent always 100%. If you somehow killed a cell it might not come up on the test. I had a battery that tested good, but would not crank the car without being jumped. Once running it ran fine since I ran off the alternator. Throw another battery in and give it a shot.
