    Morgan's Motorsports Front Splitter

So you have seen them at the last few NG's on a handful of cars, as well as in the raffles at the banquet, and in even on sale at the swap meet. Well now we are listing them for sale here on 3SGTO.

The purpose of this thread will be to provide information regarding the splitters, pictures of the product, and answer any questions you may have so please feel free to post.

For those that aren’t familiar with what a splitter is/does, in a nut shell it provides increased handling as well as a few other benefits. It is essentially a flat surface on the lower front of the car that reduces lift and provides down force, and the increased down force on the front tires is what improves handling.

The Morgan’s Motorsports splitter is made of a high density plastic material that is both highly durable and abrasion resistant. So you don't have to worry about bottoming out with this part installed, it will take the abuse and keep on going without cracking, deforming, etc.

The design provides function as well as form, working at speeds well above the highway limits. We have tested them on several different cars at the NG road course with great success, both in Memphis and Indianapolis. The splitter is designed such that it mounts to existing factory bolt holes on the sub-frame of our cars without obstructing access to the tow hooks, the oil pan, or the oil filter. So you won’t have to remove it to do oil changes or to strap down your car to a trailer, dyno, etc. And of course it provides some visual appeal to the car as well. This splitter is 0.5” thick providing a more substantial cosmetic effect.

    Here is the rundown:

Main body - High density plastic with an Aluminum support brace. All mounting holes come pre-drilled.

Mounting/Installation - The splitter mounts to existing bolt holes on the bottom of the car, securing to the sub-frame and the front bumper cover. For non-active aero cars the two mounting holes on the lower core support will require you drill and tap them to M8x1.25, and for active aero cars you will have to disable the front portion of the system. Additionally the front support spacer/pipe will have to be cut to length. We don’t send it pre-cut since differences in the front bumper cover require different spacer lengths.

Applications - This part bolts up to all 3/S cars except 1st gen Stealths. The bumper cover on a 1st gen Stealth is considerably shorter than the rest of the 3/S cars so it currently does not work with them. We are however looking into an option for you guys, stay tuned.

Colors – Any color so long as it’s black.

Price - $400 per splitter, mounting hardware and an installation manual included

Group Buy – If we can get orders for 6 splitters we would be able to sell them for $350. If there is sufficient interest for a group buy I will open a thread for it, just let me know.

Availability – We only have one part currently in stock and the order lead time is approximately 4 weeks.

Deposit – Since we have to manufacture these guys by hand an upfront deposit of $200 will be required on all orders, with the remaining balance being required prior to shipment.

Shipping – Unfortunately these guys are large and as such the shipping costs are not great. All of the quotes I have so far range from $100-$150 for shipping from St. Louis to the LA or Miami area, however I am working on finding a better rate.

If you are interested in ordering a splitter please feel free to shoot a pm to myself or Von, aka Xwire.

Now on to the product shots

Don't forget that they have been proven to help cooling on cars during the roadcourse, especially ones with a FMIC. IIRC it was Phil who recorded a 20*+ drop in peak coolant temps after fitment of a splitter.

Note to racers: Since these do not go past the front axle centerline, these are currently race legal for all classes that that allow splitters, and can be modified to adjust fore and aft to fit into classes that allow different lengths. In the Yellow Stealth's mounting position, you can see it meets the 0" rule and in the red 99 pic it will meet the 2" ruling.

Does this have adjustable front to rear angle? Does it drop rear to front?

As with the one I currently have you must shim the front down to get an angle that will create down force. Once you shim it down you have to fill the gap. If mounting directly to bumper without shimming you actually create lift.

Looks awesome. No 1g, eh? Just anooother reason to do a conversion. How far back does this mount under the engine bay?
60% of the time, my car works every time.

The angle is controlled via the spacer you cut for the front mounting bolts, so you can create whatever angle you feel comfortable with. And if you look in the pictures you will notice a gap between the bottom front edge of the bumper cover and the splitter. The gap is usually small enough that it doesn't require filling, and the aluminum brace actually provides much of the fill that can be done.

And to increase air flow below/around an fmic we recomend bending the aluminum support so that it sits at an angle rather than perpendicular to the top surface of the splitter (details can be found in the installation manual). Between that angle and the way the splitter mounts to the subframe you funnel air directly into your condensor and radiator.

It essentially runs from the rear edge of the bumper cover across the bottom of the car. Here is a picture showing the underside back half of the splitter after being installed on a car.

On older versions of the splitter we had a notch in the back edge that brought the center portion of the back edge in an inch or so but we have since gone to a flat back edge.

And it should be noted that we can do some custom cutting on the back edge of the splitter to clear any concerns.
