    the references that I've seen the Debonaire engine being better than the montero don't talk about differences in the heads, and they are refering to use in AWD vehicles..

    Not too sure what they mean...
    The debonair engine uses 3000GT heads and cams of the 2nd generation kind.
    The montero's heads and cam's are different, to suit the 4WD off-road low torque nature of the car. I have verified this in ASA with non-matching part numbers for montero heads and matching part numbers for Debonair/3000GT heads and cams.

    Not sure what the montero sump looks like although I don't see why it'd be different to the debonair one...

    So Maybe I should check the cams ? the upper intake and tb is deff from 3000gt.

    I think the Key to identify the motor I got is the fact that the Oil dipstick is in front of engine where its in back on Montero and Diamante.

    True but a Diamante engine wouldnt work. non-crossover block. Still a 6g74 yes but it wont actually fit in....
