As for this specific thread and the rear valve cover... The only thing I'd like to see polished is that recession near the timing belt. Again, I don't know if it's common practice for that to be left un polished or not.
I've got a 1gen core I'm in the middle of polishing up right now. If you want I could attempt to polish up the recession near the timing area, although the core itself isn't perfect (cracked plug holes & some odd stains in the metal that I just can't seem to get out).
