Pretty sure the Evo/GT500 Brembo thread got further than this one.
are people really attempting to do huge things with 3000GT/GTO's these days?
I was following this thread back in 2011. I'm not sure how acurate these prices mb7050 posted are, but if you add up the prices it is still pretty expensive. Even if you get everything for the cheap price and buy used rotors, you are still at $1000. And with that price you still need to find someone to make adaptor brackets for $65, you have used rotors, and your calipers won't be new either. Maybe this would be a good bang for the buck option for a DIY person who could make their own brackets, found a good deal on the calipers, and didn't mind cleaning the calipers up with some high heat ceramic paint from a rattle can.
But for a lot of people they would want new rotors (+$160 more for one piece), probably wouldn't find them for $500 (let's meet in the middle and say $650 for the calipers so that's +$150), and probably wouldn't be making brackets or having them made for $65. I think $150 for a vendor to design and resell brackets for these calipers would be pushing it (so +85). So now your BBK is around $1400 and your calipers aren't new. Let's get them powdercoated for $100 so we have $1500 invested for our BBK. We have BBK's out there around that price and you wouldn't have to piece it together and pay for shipping multiple parts. My 6 piston set from Airtekk was $1600 shipped and that came with 2 piece rotors, stainless lines, adaptor brackets, and calipers. I think the XYZ group buy was a tad cheaper even and those have been getting good reviews.
Calipers: $500-$800
Rotors: ~$240 for used (pair) $397.95 for new 1 piece (pair) $1200+ for 2 Piece (pair) (EVO X)
Hardware : $65-$200 I would guess
Brake Pads: $100-$300 Depends how aggressive you want to go
Brake Lines: $100-$300
yeah that's how my maths works out too...
the issue I see is that 90% of people would be fine on the stock system with good quality pads etc, I moved to an after market kit and while it did do repeated stops better the whole lot was not to the quality of standard and ended up replacing parts on it (while the stock stuff just with stood everything that was thrown at it)..
so then the 9% of people would be happy with the brand new, 100% bolt on sub $1400 kits, and those that actually want/need more are likely to have so much in their car that spending $3-5k on bigger rotors again, brand new guaranteed fit etc would be a no-brainer... yes?
if someone is looking for calipers here are some links.

Factory calipers are still capable of stopping a VR4 in VERY respectable distances. BBKs are honestly for track cars, and unless you size the front and rear properly, you need to get an adjustable prop valve and spend time dialing it in. I'd say 95% of BBKs sold are for people who cannot and will not use them to their potential and are just for show.
If you want much larger brakes on the cheap, the GT500 ones are probably a cheaper option but will likely still run near a grand with used calipers. The XYZ BBK kit was a steal for people who got it during the GB, but even then likely not a great bang for buck purchase in terms of performance. Outside of a complete 4 wheel BBK kit designed explicitly with the 3S in mind, you likely won't see great results that reflect the money invested. For what it costs, you could do new pads, braided lines and quality fluid several times over, which would stand up to most anything outside of hot lapping.

18Z cayenne turbo caliper_____2006 cayenne turbo S front caliper 19 Z_____2008+ cayenne turbo 19Z caliper
Brembo 6 pot 17Z - pistons 34/36/38 total piston area = 3060mm2 cayenne s and some V6 V8 touaregs Q7's etc
Brembo 6 pot 18Z - pistons 30/34/38 total piston area = 2750mm2 cayenne turbo v10 touareg v12 Q7 etc
Brembo 6 pot 19Z - pistons 32/36/38 total piston area = 2956mm2 cayenne turbo S and 2008+ these calipers use 380mm rotors stock..
for reference stock total piston area: 2721 (2g 314mm rotor)
yeah it would be pretty front biased depending how large the rotor size is vs stock like the bigger bbk kits usually are.
handy diy person could of course upgrade the rears too, cayenne rear calipers could be bought for about 300-400 a set.
stock brakes sure are good on our cars but they overheat pretty quickly and become useless after that
here is a good video
fiy 17Z calipers would be an excellent choice too if someone wants to use smaller rotors like 330mm or so. many 17 inch wheels should fit very tight.. still a big big upgrade over stock calipers. 17Z calipers are also easier to source and cheaper
