Thread: Are GETRAG transmissions rebuildable

    Are GETRAG transmissions rebuildable

    I'm at the point were I need to buy a new transmission for my 93 Stealth RT/TT, however I cant seem to find anyone that has one so I thought oabout rebuilding the one I have. But someone told me that it is not rebuildable. Can anyone help me. And if it is rebuildable were can I find the rebuild kit.

    If you remember right, at one time and still today Mitsubishi consider them unservicable.

    If you go to a parts store you aren't going to find parts. Just like if you go to a parts store to but a ball joint they will tell you that you need to buy a whole control arm. We all know you can get a ball joint, you just have to know the right part number to ask for.

    Plenty of parts out there now. Cherry hill has them all.

    Do you have any part numbers for a 5 speed? I need 5th gear syncro and 2nd gear. I know you can get these from vendors, but not without 75 to 100% markup.

    I mainly have 6 speed info in my notes but I can find out for you.

    2nd gear: MR166806
    5th synchro: MR166918

    It looks as though they have both those items, they were out of the 3-4 rings I need though...
