    Electrical Issue

Hey guys hoping someone had some input for me, yesterday I was doing a few laps around my neighborhood and my car died while driving. Ended up being the eci fuse blew. Changed it out and now it seems my alternator is not working. While the car is running its only registering 11.5 - 12.5 volts. Before this is was perfectly fine. Any common reason one would affect the other or maybe just by chance it happened together?

    Quick background, its a 94 R/T with a 1g vr4 motor and ecu, stock 94 harness.

    Thanks,
    -Josh

Did you measure off the alternator or off the battery when the car is running?

Did you check the alt fuse? If you had something happen strong enough to blow the ECU fuse, you might have blown the main alt fuse too.

From the in car battery gauge and datalogger while the car was running

It looked fine, until I dropped it just now and broke it haha

Seems that the02 wiring got loose and shorted out on the downpipe and that caused the eci fuse to blow. (At least it melted to it so im assuming that's what happened) Whats the odds that could have shorted out the alternator? I'm probably pulling it out to get tested later today either way but im hoping that's all it needs.

I had that happen on a turbo conversion as well.

Check the battery with a voltmeter. I had my datalogger read a lot lower of a voltage than what showed at the battery. Also, check the battery voltage with the car off to make sure it's still healthy

It was reading 12.x volts at the battery with the car off at first. Now its around 10.x off, after running the car for 15 min or so. Its definitely not getting charged by the alternator. I just put the battery charger on it to revive it.

Last night I checked it at the battery and it matched almost perfectly with the logger.

Also I got the typical brake, coolant, and battery light on as a typical dead alternator. It just seems weird to me that after the eci fuse went the alternator is completely dead after it being fine. I guess could be related or just a coincidence.

Ya it was fine, but I dropped it and broke it so I had to replace it anyways haha, but still no difference.
