Question for those w/the AEM AFPR

I have had mine in the car for a bit now but it bleeds off pressure fairly quickly when the car is turned off. Before, with the stock afpr, I never had issues firing the car up and it always held pressure in the lines. Now that I have the AEM regulator I can give it some time and almost all of the pressure bleeds off. It doesn't leak fuel nor does it cause any problems except for when I fire up the car. When I do a cold start it takes a second or so longer to get fuel in the line and then when it starts it isn't immediate like it used to be, rather it acts like I'm starting a carbureted motor.

No REAL problems, just want to check if this is an issue I need to take care of or not.
60% of the time, my car works every time.

This is a symptom of the majority of AFPR's on the market. You should be fine.

Thanks for the input So I'd probably have the same problem whether it was an aeromotive reg, aem reg, etc?

Yes. My aero does the same thing, and so does the one on my friends 300ZX TT.

It can be a very big problem. Especially if you are on the edge of fuel flow as it is requiring it to seal properly to maintain pressure. If something has changed, ie you notice it getting worse. I would take it apart and check for wear.

does anyone have a solution to this? There has to be an aftermarket FPR that behaves correctly.

Mine is just fine when driving/boosting, as is the one in my friends car (the 300ZX.) My fuel pressures stay rock solid. Mine has released pressure since day 1, and since I've always heard of other types (AEM, Jet) doing the same thing, I figured it was normal. Frankly, I kind of LIKE that it drops pressure, because sometimes I don't drive the car for months at a time, and when I'm cranking it, I like that the engine gets a bit more lubricated before she actually fires up.

Iiiiinteresting. I wonder why they do this though...like, is there any functional purpose to it or is it just how it happens to work? Crazy to read about that orifice causing you all of the problems, toni. Did you notice any damage to it when taking it apart?
