    Junkyard visit

If I have a 2g VR4, and I am visiting the junkyard which has a 2g SL and a couple 1g 3Ss, what random things should I snag?

Here's a few items I'd grab, either to stash in my spare parts pile or because someone's always looking for one:
    Coil packs
    PTU
    Door panels (un-bubbled)
window regulators (watch the years, I think it's '96 and up that are different)
Fuel pump hangers (turbo and non-turbo are different but both are in demand if your looking to sell)
    ECU
1st gen cam sensor (~$400 from the dealer, definitely worth snagging and selling)

check if the seats are good. if the 2g steering wheel airbag is good, that's a worthy investment (airbag computer too). plenums are always in demand for polish cores. garnishes/tails. exhaust tips possibly. any headlights. valve covers. sunroof glass/parts.

I have 2 dozen airbag computers, and another 2 dozen airbag and steering wheels/ columns. No one buys that stuff unless they are black and 97+ style.

then apparently there's as many 3/s's in the scrap heap by owners parting them out as there are from accidents. sad.

you mean the SRS system doesn't detect rear impact crashes?

The srs system doesn't deploy air bags in many of the wrecks we buy. The earlier models had impact sensors on each corner of the car. The car could literally crumble around it and not deploy the air bag. The 97+ models depend on a g sensor built into the air bag computer to deploy the bags. They go off a bit more sensitively.
