I would personally trust the cheapo batteries from walmart or autozone to have more rigorous QC than odyssey or optima. simply because if there is an issue they will lose so much more money due to the sheer volume of how many they make.

Weird.. my battery died too. Last time I drove it was to your place and back DrGonzo.

I think your house might be surrounded by some kind of battery killing field.

Yeah when it worked it worked great! No problems starting and I only really drive the car on Fridays to the local meet so it sits there all week long and still no problems starting. Car was a complete rebuild and nothing extra "Big Stereo, carputer, etc" are installed so no reason it should have died on me like this, especially considering it was not even hooked up!

When I find time today I am going to call them and raise hell about their BS warranty.

    Check it out on Youtube!!

Don't spend the money on the Odyssey battery. The Hawker series is the same battery and the last one I bought about 1.5 years ago was $70 vs $139 for the Odyssey. They don't last long if they are ever deep discharged, even if you always store it trickle charged.

Now that is where Odyssey is scamming people with their mis-information. Their website states clearly on in the description "Deep Discharge Capabilities" but than the warranty voids it if over-discharged!?!?!?!

Well, it can be done, but in my experience, it never holds as much of a charge afterwards as it could before. When dealing with such a small battery, every little bit is needed. I'm sure their larger SLA batteries can handle several deep discharges before it has an effect.

I think, over the past 8-10 years, I'm on my 4th or 5th Odyssey/Hawker battery. The first one I had blew up after being daily driven and parked outside at work everyday (hot TX sun), the plastic casing was bulging and had small cracks in it. 2nd one I stopped using the Stealth as my DD, so sometimes it would sit for a week or two before being driven. My alarm drained it down apparently and I didn't have a trickle charger at the time. After I charged it back up, it never held as much of a charge, and it just got worse and worse until I finally had to replace it. From then on, they've all been trickle charged, but life expectancy still seems to be far shorter than what they advertise.

Redtops don't last too long after a few deep discharges either. I ruined mine when my remote top prototype kept ignition ON all day a couple of times. It ended up leaking and couldn't even keep the car running after a jump start.
