now this i disagree with. maybe i'm not a person of integrity (by this definition) but i certainly am NOT lax enough to "let time prove me right". being right, and casually disregarding any push for validation of my claims only results in a footnote to history. a quoteable quote.

if you're going to change someone's mind, if you're going to make a difference, if you're going to press your luck that the person you're presenting an idea to has a mind--yet open; then you are compelled to surge forward. to substantiate your own claims. to "rage against the dying of the light".

perhaps it is because i'm an objectivist. to me, i have to know certain things about myself; such as if i fail, that my best efforts were expended. that i left nothing on the table. if i'm surrounded by intolerable dearths of intelligence, i am compelled to try and change that. being exonerated by the passage of time is unacceptable.
