OK, so for Christmas I was thinking of his & hers compact Beretta Storms since the wife and I both have CCWs. With everything else going on ans a trip to take care of my mom's house I really didn't want to dig deep into my pocket. Hmmm, let's look at current inventory and see what can be sacrificed to get the job done. KG-9 investment gun was the obvious choice. It was NIB and I bought it to never shoot, just gain value, so it was time to see what I could do with it. Short story is I went to a dealer at a gun show today and traded the gun for two 9mm Storm compacts, even up. I got a Comfort Tuc IWB holster for my Kimber Ultra Carry and called it a day.
I have been wearing the empty holster to get the leather backing to start forming and I want to say it is pretty comfortable. I was surprised that with the gun in the holster, I did not have to up my pant size one notch and I have my belt in the same hole as with no holster.

don't think im gonna buy the mossberg, he's asking 300.00 for it, or 325.00 for a Remington 870
You can buy a good can for less than 1000 dollars. A lot of different manufacturer brands will work, but HK only recognizes two manufacturers that will allow their gun to cycle properly according to their specifications. Swiss made B&T is one and I can't remember the second name. Just so you understand, nothing is hollywood quiet. In order to get close to hollywood quiet you must use subsonic ammo. Subsonic 9 millimeter ammo is pricey, I can't imagine what 40 cal would be. Ok cool thing about 45 acp is it is all subsonic. Another thing is wet versus dry supressor. Shaving cream is really good or you could use LPS or wd 40. There are several youtube suppressed hk 45 videos, pay attention to the ones firing wet versus firing dry.
As far as the question of why would you need a suppressor? The answer is to give you plenty of time to think of what to do with the body.
OK, so I'm reading through this whole thread post by post and I really take exception to this one. 9mm more accurate than .45 ACP, What do you base that on? Practical I'll give you as far as the price of ammo goes, but that's about it. Distance is not an issue because you should not be shooting at anyone at a great distance (Legally, that is). At any CCW threat zone range (15' or less), bigger is better. A very good chance that a 9mm FMJ is a pass through wound and a 9mm JHP through clothing is not going to get full expansion. Extreme muzzle velocity at close range is not the best scenario. The .45ACP hits like a Mack truck and will take fewer rounds to accomplish the mission. IF you cannot hit the broad side of a barn, then having a 17 round magazine would be a good thing, I guess. But IF you are a fairly decent shot that hits what you are aiming at, you don't need 17 rounds and a good old 1911 with 7 or 8 +1 will be more than enough. I have several 9mm pistols, so I am not against them. I have two .45 cal pistols, one carry size, the other full size and I have no inclination to get a .40 cal because of the cost of ammo and being real close to a 9mm in form and function.
I know that a lot of 45 owners use a 22 conversion kit to go to the range and practice with. They get the feel of holstering the gun and drawing it, but the cost is very cheap compared to using .45ACP ammo. I might look into that for my Kimber in the future, but for now, I just practice with one of the compact 9mm and carry the .45.
^I dont think its as much of ammo size for accuracy as barrel length. It all depends on the shooter too.. Granted Im more accurate with my .22 than the .40, but thats because the barrel is 2 inches longer.
Id rather have at least a .40 for CCW. There are people out there that a 9mm will not take down, especially if they are intoxicated or high on something.
And you better be able to hit someone from within 15', if not, you either need more practice or shouldnt be shooting the gun..
On the note of CCW, Im curious about how all of you carry. How big are you, the gun, and where you carry it. I just got a shoulder holster for my XD .40 Subcompact and I feel like I wouldnt be able to carry it in the warmer months if I were to have it under just a t-shirt. I know I can carry unconcealed here but not when driving.. I just feel like someone could tell if Im carrying. Im not a very big guy, 140 and 5'7.. Just looking for ideas.
