To 99 convert or not to 99 Convert...that is the question

I have a 92 Figi Blue SL it needs a completely new paint job(its 4 colors right now) I really love the boxy style of the 1st gen cars but also think that a 99 conversion in Figi Blue looks damn sexy(especially with a victory hood). Since I have to paint everything anyway...it doesn't really matter what I paint...it's just the expense of getting the front end parts...which I know aren't exactly cheap.

If it makes any difference the car has 185k on it and will be getting a new(er) head(80k on it). I'm also planning to replace the interior with new covers from leatherseats.com and want to put some rims on it (maybe cobras but undecided still).

I've already decided to keep the 1st gen skirts and rear but adding JDM Tail lights, a 99 center garnish and 2nd gen hoop spoiler. These are definitely happening regardless of the front end conversion. I just don't know about the 99 front end.

Any feedback and insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm torn I know it's a lot of work and money for a car with a lot of miles, that will mostly stay parked in the driveway as a weekend car and for meeting up with or 3S peeps.
I'm lame and this is my lame signature.

If YOU like it, and you can afford it, go for it. A lot of people have done 99 conversion, but that shouldn't stop you from doing it if that floats your boat.

Personally, I don't think the 99 front end and the 1st gen sideskirts look good together. They just don't match at all. I vote for keeping 1st gen front end.

    My car went from 1G > 3G > 2G > back to a 1G....in a year.

trust me if you own a 1G, headlight buckets are a pain in the ass, it does not look right with the headlights...fitment is off and it does not look clean.

If you want to do it right you need to weld on 2G buckets.

1G sideskirts do not flow at all with a 3G bumper, I had it and hated it...trust me a good 1G, looks good. I am glad to be a 1G again with the pop up.s

lol atros. You're one fickle dude.

If you want to convert it make sure you do it right, dont skimp on anything and, like Atrosity said, you will need to weld in 2g buckets. Are you looking to go to the 99 headlights as well or 2g stealth headlights? That in its own will save you a ton. Just do it if you've got the funds and love the look

I'll also be making a 1g front lip and a really good looking 1g front bumper in the near future. Just throwing it out there = )

Overdone IMO, but if you like it I do think it looks quite nice. Personally I like all the 99 stuff but the bumper.

I did it to my 94 only because it was cheaper to buy a new 99 bumper then it was to fix the Deep cuts in the 94 one, Plus I all ready had the 99 turns on it so it was just a bumper I had to buy. For a 1st gen go with the cianci kit it looks good with the 1st gen side skirts

Well, as an owner of a fiji blue 91, I have to say that I prefer the 1st gen front end... but then again, I've never seen a 99 painted fiji blue. But I have to agree. The 1st gen sideskirts would have to go. They wouldn't flow with the design of the car.

I could budge on getting 2G or 99 skirts...I like the look of the 1st Gen bumper with a 99 garnish for sure though.

Probably going to keep it as a 1st Gen...but I do often wonder...
