I am looking into getting a GTO as a DD. Anyone have one, if you do give me the good bad and the ugly. Either that or an evo 8 or 9. Persuade me.

They're expensive and they're easy to break. They're fast though, lol.

Ls engine parts are pretty cheap actually.
The suspension and drivetrain. Hop ups that fit the engine are cheap, but headers and such are expensive.
edit: oh, and add brakes to that list, they're expensive too.
Evos aren't cheap either... general maintenance isn't too bad, but it still adds up because the intervals are kinda close and it's not cheap to go full OEM fluids. tires are expensive-ish. gas sucks too, lol
edit2: you may as well just make the poll options for Evo 8/9 the same, every year was slightly different.

Mike, Audible, just picked up an '06 a couple of months ago.
It is an awesome car. Lots of power, especially in the '05 and '06's, comfortable and very roomy car. Even the back seats have a lot of room.
Not the best on gas mileage, but a 400hp V8 in a 3700 lb car, gas mileage is not the biggest concern.
The car is a lot of fun to drive, very comfortable and very civil when you want it to be.
I'm personally more a fan of the G8. But I love Mike's 4th gen GTO.

I never said anything about being cheap. I can handle the maintenance on them.
What do you want to use the car for? They all have pros and cons but what you want from the car is probably going to determine which one is more appropriate for you.

Just looking for a fun DD.
For a fun DD I recommend test driving the mazda speed 3. My friend Jeremy has the last generation in black.
Very fun car but also extremely practical for 4 people and a hatch full of groceries.
The car is FWD, but with the LSD over steer is limited and I'm a sucker for turbo cars.
But as for the options you have listed, I'd go with a EVO 9 or the GTO. Between the 9s and 8s I prefer the 9s styling.

I have an 04 GTO as my DD and I love it so far (owned it for a month)! Gas isn't the greatest, but I didn't buy it for the mpg's. I would also say it depends where you live. I'm planning on getting a winter beater to keep all the salt and grime off the GTO, but if you wanted something to drive all year in a northern state of course the EVO with AWD is the better choice. I would say you wouldn't go wrong with either the EVO or the GTO, I happened to want a RWD V8, so that's why I went with the GTO.
