I want to cry. Why the EF does this happen to me?

Okay, maybe not cry but at least go apeshit.

Last week I began doing maaaaany different things on my car such as replacing more than half of the eristic gaskets I used during my engine rebuild (the ebay kit that everyone always wonders whether it is good or not - it definitely is not) and swapping my transmission and clutch. When I got the old transfer case off, which I was almost positive was in good shape after only 20k miles, I discovered that the input spool on the tcase and output shaft on the trans were pretty roughed up. I called and asked a certain "shop" how much for a new transfer case (I will just call it the shop to avoid blasting them because they really have taken care of me and others in the past). I had purchased my new 25 spline transmission from them about a month ago when mitsu did all of the new transmissions. There was a complete cluster f*ck with the shipping on the trans and an extra hundred bucks later and week and a half after the delivery estimate I received it - that is a different story all in its own but it was another mistake by the shop that could have been avoided.

The shop tells me they DO have new transfer cases in stock and asked for my vin...because my trans is a 25 spline I told them it did not matter and I needed a 5 speed 25 spline tcase but gave them my vin and build date anyways. They confirmed that I needed a 25 spline and said it wont be a problem because they have both in stock. I received the transfer case yesterday and was stoked to get it in the car. Wellllll...I just dropped in the new clutch and transmission, replaced half of the gaskets I needed to and bolted up my new precat eliminators. Only a couple things left before I can drive my car again! I greased up the input spool and output shaft and went to put the case on.................................you know where I'm going don't you........................it's an 18 spline. FAAAAAWK!

Of course I needed it to be the correct part so that I could drive to and from school next week when the new semester begins and that means that it could not be the correct part...just seems to be the way shit stanks around here.

This thread is a total rant. I am upset that first there was an avoidable problem with shipping on the trans, which I ended up paying an extra hundred dollars to cover their mistake, and now I have a useless transfercase that I don't have the money reserved to buy another. Fortunately they did cut me a deal on the shipping and final cost for the tcase to cover part of the cost I had to pay on the transmission mishap but DAMMIT why can't I get things to go smoothly?! I never had problems with these guys in the past and as soon as I spend 3 grand there the problems they do have happen to me.

Am I completely dicked on this? I know that I told him I needed a 25 spline regardless of what my car called for, but will I have to cover return shipping and also float the bill until they receive this case to issue me a refund? I really don't have enough time to wait for it to ship to them, be processed and then have the correct one shipped to me.

grrr..../super rant. Time for more drink.
60% of the time, my car works every time.

They should exchange it for free and cover shipping.

Yeeea...shipping is my biggest gripe right now. They asked me to help out on their mistake before, so I have a feeling they are going to do it again or I might not see the case

I will be calling first thing in the morning. hopefully it goes well.

If you said it was a 25 spline and they even confirmed it was a 25 spline but sent you an 18 it is 100% their fault and you shouldn't spend a cent to fix this. If they pull shit like that you need to post who it is so we can avoid them. Doesn't matter how many ppl they have helped in the past that's just poor customer service and extremely unethical.

Called and without any questions asked they managed to get one in the mail today for me and I should have it Wednesday...holiday is postponing it a day. No charge or deposit and they sent me a return shipping label to my email. Besides the delay I am satisfied
