    NG11- Scary Stuff

    I wouldnt be racing on those rotors, but yet the owner just excused it away and didnt seem concerned at all. I'm glad the lack or concern didnt become an incident.

    What happened to the tech inspections that were in the information? I'm sure most everyone had well prepped cars, but as a past race inspector I have caught things that people overlooked or had not checked so I saved them from expensive failure. I'm glad only a few driveshafts and transmissions were destroyed in our fun time.

    Walking around the car show with all the hoods open, I was appalled at how many cars were VERY low on brake fluid, or how dirty that fluid was. Dont your low level lights work??

    I hope more of you do some safety checks and make sure your car is roadworthy. yes these ARE high maintenance cars and they deserve a little extra time from you.

    The cars are self-inspected at the road course and autocross. We trust that people aren't going to do anything stupid or to run a car that isn't safe. Drag race tech inspections are run by the track. Everyone receives a list of the tech requirements and is expected to abide by them.

    Looks like Scott's rotors, which cracked during the roadcourse. Wouldn't bother me either for the drags or autoX, I've blown up my fair share of rotors, none of them doing the slow stuff.

    I've always had to tech myself for HPDE events when running at NASA and MCSCC events. driver's responsibility, not the track or organizer's.

    but i agree, it likely happened during the event and he planned to replace it once he limped it home. we've all limped it home before.

    I was gonna say that was most likely a result from the abuse from the roadcourse and autocross.

    I agree that the rotor needs to be replaced, but how exactly do you know how dirty brake fluid is without taking off the lid?

    My fluid is about a month old from a complete flush and is clear, but looking through the side of the reservoir it looks dirty because the reservoirs are not clear from old age.

    I'd agree that was probably from the roadcourse. I trashed my brake pads to nubs and had to change them the next day. A cracked rotor would have been serious enough that I would have stopped driving and towed it back.

    Are you saying you started popping open caps and started looking at fluids and fluid levels? IF that is the case it is a good thing I didn't see you under my hood like that

    You would have found topped off and two day old fluid in my reservoir!

    Brand new rotors and pads all the way around too.
