The registration process is the same on 3si. Its serves three functions.
1) Keep some spammers out.
2) The ones that get in have to make their first post in a highly monitored thread so we can kill them fast.
3) It makes sure new users have a basic idea how stuff works here. (if you've been using forums a while most of it not new).

Look IB sucks and makes sites worse, but it's still a wealth of information, at least it was. I don't have a problem with them trying to make a profit off the site. Is there something else I don't know about?

the biggest problem i have with 3sdie is the ownership by AF. the entire split in the community was perpetrated by AF's reaction to alan's safety protocol of disabling ads on 3sdie--when one of them was demonstrated to be malware. rather than complimenting alan on preventing more users from potentially having their pc's infected, AF chose to chastise him for taking down the ads; ads that AF was remiss to check for malware in the first place.

there is much more history than that to it, but that was the straw that broke the camel's back. AF does NOT care about the community, and never has. on 3sgto, the site is ran by an owner. better yet, there's no AF-minded censorship of other 3s forum domains just because someone is butthurt and paranoid that they're going to lose all their membership base due to AF's asshatted tomfoolery.

I do recall talking to one the guys who created DSMlink when I had my talon, said they were working on something similar for the 3S, did that ever come to fruition?

that I do not know. I sold my AEM series 2 to go the way of flash tune. flash tuning has made a series 2 harder to sell, I sold mine new and unused for 1200.00 shipped...good thing "bought it right".

Best part is , that you don't HAVE to. They have cloned the 98-99 ECU and have ways as simple as plug-n-play to use the 98-99 ECU in any generation TT
