“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

I think Texas being unranked is perfect and deserved. With that said, this appears to be the most impactful freshman class of the Mack Brown era. Here are the true freshman that are going to play right away:
QB - David Ash in special packages
RB - Malcolm Brown (one of 2-3 primary rushers), Joe Bergeron (short yardage & FB)
WR - Jaxon Shipley (Jordan Shipley's brother), Miles Onyegbule
MLB - Steve Edmond (should see a lot of playing time against quality rushing)
CB - Quandre Diggs (Quentin Jammer's brother)
What we're hearing about the offense is very encouraging. Play makers like DJ Monroe who busted off a long TD run against OU (5'9", 175, 4.3 40) that almost never saw the field last year because Greg Davis was incompetent, have been given their own packages. The play book has been tailored to suit the needs of each player. Shipley, for instance, struggles some with contact at the line of scrimmage, so he's in motion pre-snap a lot. There will be wild cat formations (up to 5 players will take snaps this season) and they've installed a number of trick plays already. TE's are in motion pre-snap virtually every play -- this is the Boise State offense that is so hard to prepare for, that probes the defense and creates mis-matches pre-snap.
There's a lot of optimism about our front 7 on D, but I think we're still going to be weak against the run. The good news it that we will be better at rushing, so our O won't put the D in so many terrible positions.
I won't be surprised by anything from 7-5 to 10-2. All I really demand is week to week improvement, which was not the case last season.
