Interesting. I've only seen a few minutes of LSU vs Oregon and LSU vs Miss State.
With that said...

I call them flat in the got better department(well the offense might be a touch better). The Miss. State game is what I keep falling back to, they moved the ball quite well against LSU, just couldn't stay mistake free and play hard for a full 60 minutes. Honestly, that could easily be our fate as well. Mistakes cost us the game in Deaf Valley last year(letting Petersen return a punt, and a fumble at the goal line). Granted, our defense was pretty effin good last year; they only scored one offensive TD on us. Our defense is good this year, but it's not last year level(from what I've seen so far). Our offense is 10 fold better(Geno is over 1,000 yeards already, and he threw for 2,700 for the whole year last year). We're going to have to be able to run the ball, better. With no run threat, they'll pin back for the pass, and eventually they will force a big turnover.
Reading tigerdroppings today, the LSU fanbase is completely overlooking and discrediting us. I hope their players are too. These types of situations tend to fair well for us, especially at home, in primetime.
As for the ACC/SEC talk, I can't imagine we land in the ACC. They are academic based, and we aren't the right fit, plus we are technically on probation with the NCAA. We fit better in the SEC(though the SEC has been doing a lot to change their reputation that they are athletic based only). All I keep hearing is increased tv sets and that we don't bring that over a Mizzou. I disagree, I think we open the SEC into a market in which they are nonexistent. If the SEC will extend the reach to us, we're chomping that bit without question. What might happen in the short term is a hybrid BE/B12...which I do not want. That would only be a bandaid, as I don't feel it viable in the long run. To succinctly answer the question, I want to be in the SEC.

LSU fans are notorious for discrediting everyone.
All the WVU fans want to be in the SEC and all of the SEC fans don't want anything to do with WVU. A lot of people on the AU forums clamoring about the terrible fan base. I think WVU would add a lot to the market though. As for the ACC/SEC talk, I can't imagine we land in the ACC. I have trouble coming up with a list of 4 teams the B10 would target that doesn't include Mizzou... BYU, Notre Dame, Kansas... Really though, if I'm the PAC, I want Kansas a helluva lot more than I want Texas Tech. Basically, I'll be surprised if Mizzou ends up in the SEC... But if that does happen, what's WVU to do? It would be a damn shame if WVU got stuck in the future Conference USA equivalent BE/B12.
EDIT - @ Tyla
Our fans are rowdy, but our reputation is exxagerated. Not that we haven't done some dumb shit, Lord knows we have...
With that said, our fans travel very well. Our licensed product sales are always stellar, and ranked very high amongst div 1 schools. There's only 1.8mil people in the whole State, so it's not just in State. We're in Pittsburgh and DC. There's a lot of really good athletes being extricated from these markets(especially Maryland and DC, which we are really getting a foot hold on). I understand the SEC fans reservations, and I think it would be difficult to get the SEC prez's to vote in our direction. So, I really have no idea where we will land, other than the ACC or the Bigteneleventwelve(which are both out). I'm looking at this Saturday, the rest will shake out with time.
Jeremy
I'm in agreeance with this.
Exactly, if we don't get an invite to the SEC it will really suck. The BE aq bid is up for re-evaluation fairly soon(yikes). Cuse and Pitt have sucked for the last few years, but they are storied programs, deep in tradition. No way I'm downplaying the loss of them in the BE, it's a big deal. Pitt can still eat shit though, I can't give them much love, I already feel bad saying that many good things about them. Hate those pukes, lol.
One of the biggest losers in all of this madness? T.C.U. I can't imagine what they're thinking. But such is the collegiate football landscape of today; shit happens.
Jeremy
the big 10 has got to be eyeing a texas team... thats a ton of money... hah TCU would be great...
and ND of course... I think its funny the big12 is trying to merge with the rest of the big east, maybe that will work who knows. All the big 12 big whigs all worried about losing those fat cat salaries(im sure they have mansions and summer homes to pay for).
Pretty crazy stuff... NCAA has got to be worried also. These mega conferences remove alot of their power.
WV doesnt bring alot of viewers in the picture but the school has the football clout.
