Heh, I'm really glad we took their (Boise's) offensive coordinator.
Texas started extremely vanilla, and the game stayed close deep into the 3rd. As expected, David Ash came in briefly on several critical drives and we used him to run a spread option offense. For the first time ever, we managed to successfully run wildcat (in the red zone). We found a way to get the ball into the hands of our fastest player (DJ Monroe, who spent all of last year on the sidelines due to OC incompetence) on fly sweeps, spread option runs, and true screens. Jaxon Shipley had a great TD catch on a double-reverse WR pass (John Harris, FR) ... Malcolm Brown our bad ass FR RB went 16-86 (5.4/carry). Garrett had a very solid game - 13/23, 239, TD ... He threw 2 perfect deep balls for big gains and 2 others that were extremely close. He had one totally bone-headed play where he tried to lateral a ball when he was getting sacked.
All in all, I'm really pleased with everything I saw. There are freshman play makers everywhere, particularly on offense, and the offense is no longer 1 dimensional. You can prepare to stop certain parts of the offense, but you can't stop all of it and our OC, finally, knows what the fuck he is doing. The red zone use of the wildcat, the Ash-package, the trick plays -- it all takes the pressure off Gilbert. After a slow start, they put up 506 yards of offense against a Rice squad that is much better than they were at this time last year.

WVU plays Marshall today in the annual rivalry game. We'll see how the offense takes to the "new" style. Defense scares me though because we lost so much after last year.

Mizzou is beginning their own network using the LHN as a model.
Missouri Tigers to roll out Internet-based school network - ESPN
Perhaps it's looking more likely that the B12 will survive and be the school network friendly conference.Missouri is the latest Big 12 member to join the digital realm, alongside Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas State. The Mizzou Network will be an Internet-based channel with live, multi-camera broadcasts of the school's Olympic sports along with behind-the-scenes glimpses into previously off-limits activities such as football practices or basketball locker rooms. The network will carry applications for smart phones, tablet computers and Internet-capable TV.
The channel will roll out on Dec. 1
good luck with that b12(Big 9, 8 , 7....) thing surviving...
