DNF: the old king is back

9 days till the official release of duke nukem forever. 14 some odd years in the making; it is finally--I SHIT YOU NOT--here. at last. the game that had more hype and delays than SC2 and TF2 combined.

anyone going to buy this game on release day?

nup, couse like ALL the recent sequels it'll be shit.

SC2 was terrible...so much micromanage I could not stomach more than around 30 min total of it.

i'm not sure it's really a "sequel" at this point. 14 years and a completely different company in charge (2k games / gearbox) means that it's NOTHING like previous iterations--except for the key features of the series: duke, babes, and guns.

granted, 2k games can kiss my chaffed ass...but i like gearbox. gearbox was founded by two guys who previously worked at 3d realms (and one from bethesda) so if anything, we can assum it'll be more like half-life1, fallout, and borderlands than it will be like the old duke games.

According to animator Bryan Brewer, former employee of 3D Realms, Gearbox is porting the game to consoles after completing development on PC.

i am so excited for this game ! duke has been my favorite ba since i was alittle kid playing the sidescrolling adventures of him . i will own this game!

Actually it's the opposite. SC2 is much more macro-focused than SC1.

I won't be picking DNF up at release. I think I'll wait for it to go down significantly in price before I buy it.

The videos of the game play made me pretty unexcited to play it. I'll probably wait until its a 20 dollar or so game on Steam.

I'm definitely looking forward to it! I'm a sucker for the early to mid 90's video games, and from what I've seen DNF seems to capture a lot of the charm that the originals had.

It's good to see a lot of game makers going back to their roots and giving the fans what they want (Mortal Kombat, etc).
