    push or pull!?

to push or pull, that is the question?!

i am going to have to get some radiator fans for this heat. i have a 19t car that is built and supported, and with that comes a huge front mount (the dual core).

    1. what fans are the best to use?! where do i get said fans!?
    2. should i mount between the rad and intercooler or between rad and engine?
    3. i am pretty sure pulling air through is recommended, but why?
    4. i can find this, but any recommended spot to hotwire them on with the ignition?

i would like to order stuff this weekend so i can fix it asap. just redid my cooling system, and i think i have it good except for the fan situation. its 95* out right now and it only over heats if i get all over it a lot or sit still. i am hoping these fans will solve the idling overheating issue, but not sure what to do about it overheating when i am beating on it.

i was just going to replace both with whatever fans flow big air... obviously put 2 of them on the radiator somewhere

    sorry for the long post

    ideas/suggestions welcome!!!

    thanks guys!

I would personally mount them on the outer side of the rad pushing the air though it into the engine bay, and if at all possible mount a puller on the inside of the intercooler. if you`re pushing the air through the radiator, it will minimally cool off anything residing behind the rad as well as there will be less disruption in the flow of the air with the fan housings.

For wiring them, I`d splice them into the stock rad fan plugs. If you want them full time almost any 12V ignition source will do.

imho, pushers mean that you have the fan shroud/body now blocking part of the radiator/intercooler/whatever.

fwiw, stock > FAL fans (at least imho). i don't know if anyone's ever found aftermarket fans that do a better job than a properly functioning set of OEM fans.

optimum cooling has nothing to do with fans while the car is in motion. it has everything to do with the size of the cooling apparatus. if you're having cooling issues at idle, the first thing i'd look at would be your radiator and coolant system. fans would be 2nd.

fwiw, i've yet to hear of anyone running the 3sx single-pass & are experiencing consistant cooling issues--even if they have a FMIC. usually it's a function of ducting + thin radiator = overheating. and an old rad cap doesn't help either.

Just run 2 stock ac fans in the stock location. Wire them into the stock harness to have them turn on at high speed only. Get yourself a higher pressure coolant cap and you should be all set.

well, the size of the radiator may be an issue as stated, but otherwise the cooling system has been completely redone. i got a new cap on it already too

i understand how a cooling system, every aspect of it, works. my fans are not kicking on at all right now, which is why i am wanting to hotwire them in, and if need be, get better fans.

i guess im gonna just hotwire in the stockers

Why not get the system working properly? Sounds like you may need a $15 sensor.

I run one stock fan with a koyo radiator and a FMIC on my 19T car and it doesn't over heat. It stayed under 210 running the crap out of it on the dragon a few weeks ago. I use a derale fan controller so I just run the bigger fan. I plan to get a 2nd one so I can run the other fan though.
