$159 from amazon is well worth it. Given my D5000 is DX format its basically 450mm on the long end.

Sooo.... I was thinking you said 70-300 VR. But then I saw $159. What brand did you end up getting? I know I looked at a couple of the Quantaray and other 70-300's. Some did seem to have a usefull "close focus" capability. I never shot with them beyond mounting to my camera in the store, though. Ended up with the Nikon branded one for a pretty ok deal.

For real! Maybe Mike will drop in with his MKII and gear. BTW with all those bodies you need a FF to add to the list.

I had a 1D MkIII for a while, along with the XT and 30D. due to some family emergency, I sold that, got two 40Ds instead for cheap and eventually sold them both.

I thought about FF but since Ive stopped doing weddings and most portrait photography, crop bodies make the most sense for what I shoot. Ive already levelled my lens lineup as it is to just a couple FF lenses and the rest being EF-S lenses.
