Wayne, you said you were bringing a 3S. So I simply said if you're bringing a 3S, you have to register. If you'd said you were bringing a car, I probably would've phrased it that if you were bringing your own car, you'd have to register. You're splitting hairs.
As for your bike, I didn't need to check with the track. It's in the contract, and it's been asked before. The answer is a resounding, "NO." You think I have nothing better to do than to drop everything and call the track to ask every questions, even when it's been asked before? Especially three weeks before the gathering?? You have no flippin' clue what's going on in my house with this thing so close and a business trip less than one week before we leave. I know this will be hard for you to believe, but it's not all about you.
I don't care how you feel about the NG at this point. Frankly, for me the kicker was comparing me to Gandalf. That was completely and totally out-of-line and uncalled for. And for that... go to hell.
Thanks to everyone who is defending me. Your words and support mean a lot to me.
2022 National Gathering Reunion
Its about the fact that you want to do something that you can't pay for. Its really that simple.
I'm sorry times have been tough for you. They have been hard for many people. You are not the only person that does not have the money to pay for a full registration this year. These people want to come and they can not because of the price. Unlike you they are not making an issue out it. You want us to change the rules that have been in place since 2002.
Its not happening.
What constitutes "not participating"? If they're at the hotel, they're attending the banquet or the car show or any of the race events, the reception on Tuesday, the pace lap, the swap meet, or any of the other festivities that I so carefully plan, then they're participating in the event. There are a ton of people who register, pay a full registration, and don't race at all. Some won't even participate in the car show. But they're there, and they have a vehicle with them. Period.
By the way, thanks to all of you who want to support this event without even having an intention of attending. And people wonder why I've done this for so long... It's because I know how much the event means to so many people, and it's a little something I can give them (and Alan may be one of those people, too).
I didn't say that you directly said that, it was more indirectly. You stated that you were attending as a guest and bringing a car to the gathering. I'm sure the insurance they purchased isn't extended to the guest's vehicles. That would be like me saying hey I want to go the event, but don't want to pay to register my car, can I be a somebody's guest and still bring my car.
I understand your frustration Wayne, but I also understand where Lori is coming from. She can't make exceptions for just one person.
By "not participating" i mean not using their vehicle in any track or show event. Im pretty sure everything else you mentioned is covered in the guest fee, no?
But like i said, that was a bad statement to make and when i make a mistake i own up to it. its something the military taught me and unfortunatley more people dont do the same thing
Ive been a guest of someone twice now, and neither one has made any mention of guests not being allowed to meet them there, so it must not be noted anywhere in the registration process. If its not it seems like rules are being made up as we go along and i dont think ive been disrespectful at all today, other than the one time i admit, and have manned up and apologized for a long time ago
yea i know, i was thanking you for the useless post
