there will be at least one more room at the cheaper hotel open, because i am not staying there any longer. i will call and cancel soon

Don't cancel, you can do that 24 hours before hand and not be charged, put a post up about how it is available, when someone PM's you about it, give them the confirmation number and let them know that they have 24 hours to put the room in their name and their credit card info or you will cancel the room.
This way we don't lose any rooms.

Just a thought.
