so how old IS the average 3/s owner anyways?

    it's 1am, i'm at work, i'm bored, and i'm morbidly curious.

it certainly seemed that in my early days on the old website that a LOT of owners were teenagers or in their young twenties. i'm curious to see if that's shifted (i suspect it has).

post up for your age group & discuss.

    p.s.

i arbitrarily set the poll to close in 300 days. i figure a new poll can be done in another few years.

I bet Alan could do a quick SQL query on the existing accounts to get a real precise breakdown of each age group. I have a feeling most people put this info in, but made it private.

Definitely would be interesting to see how it compares to these results, and to check if your suspicious are correct that the primary age group has shifted over the years.

I would say it's the exact opposite. When I joined in 2001, you had people like Bob Fontana, Jeff Lucius, Jack Tertadian, etc... all posting about things and advancing the platform. Guys who had the money and wherewithal to be able to do so, which is because they were in their 40's and 50's. Over the years, I've seen so many former owners get rid of their 3/S and go with a C5/C6 Corvette, Porsches, etc. Their cars are bought by a younger and younger group.

I'm surprised by the lack of under 20's, but I think it's because they weren't part of the migration from 3Si.

BTW I sort of agree with you. The cars were expensive so the members seemed to be a bit older but when the value went down more younger people got into it.

    I was 19 when I bought my VR4, but sold it when I was 21. I voted 20-30.

It's definitely a lot of younger guys with 3S's now. Unfortunately, a lot of younger guys who can't really afford them...
