So it's been a couple years since I had a TT. What are some things I should look for at the car has 144,000 miles on it.

same things to look at on every 3/s.
oil-pan dents.
...but seriously, these are all good to check:
oil-pressure reading (low...but not none)
fluids color
belts/pulley condition
vehicle tracks true (or not)
engine mounts
any services performed by the previous owner
it goes without saying on cars 10+ years old; you need to have everything OEM replaced--if it hasn't been already. anything rubber is going to have worn out (engine mounts, harmonic balancer, control arms, tie-rod ends, etc). alternator/water pump/oil pump should be replaced if they haven't been already. if it's pre 96, check the ECS. if it's pre 97, check the AA. does it smoke at idle (especially after the first 10 minutes)? do the turbos sound normal, or are they excessively noisy/quiet? does it build boost properly? are there any codes the ECU is throwing? if possible, do a compression check. lifter tick is normal; excessive tick/noise is not. has the differential/transfer case been serviced? how rusty is the underside of the vehicle? do the windows move up and down without issue, or is there noise/popping from using them?
that's all i've got off the top of my head; but i'm missing some stuff for sure.
Irregular tire wear patterns, signs of body work, etc...
Also, have the owner drive the car first and notice how he/she drives it. The driver is going to know how the car will act under certain situations. Once you drive the car, make sure to do the opposite of what they do (accelerate slowly/fast, shift slow/fast,) find a flat road and see if the car tracks off to one side.
tracking true is important; but that can be a lot of different things causing it. if you can, jack up each wheel individually & try manipulating it side to side & up and down.
Tell me about this car......
