    p.s.

minus the excessive "mode-setting", sounds like a fairly normal launch procedure for an ATX; although you'd never be able to hit 4000rpm's from a streetable torque converter. i perform similar launching at the dragstrip--although the last time i did it, i was FWD and was nowhere near < 3 second 0-60. it's not THAT difficult to find a given RPM band though. at the tree, you have probably less than 3 seconds to find your stall speed before the green light--so other than having to "give it a little more gas" to find the 4k (vs. the ~2.2k for a stock 3/s) it's probably very similar. but you'll hit 11's easy.
Good thing the GTR doesn't even have a torque convertor!

So driving this around, do you get quite a bit of attention. I know not everyone knows exactly what this car is. However, I would think there would always be at least a few sets of eyes on you. Could be a little fun at first but I've always thought it would get a bit annoying after a while.

Yes you do get a lot of attention, especially in the general area where I live. I try not to park too far away, and dont go anywhere shady because this thing sticks out like a sore thumb. I've already had people try to race me and i admit i gave in to some of them. it doesnt take any more than just a short 2-second jab on the accelerator and this thing is gone, even while cruising around at 40mph. ive done maybe a few dozen stoplight launches already and just cant stop grinning.

one thing i love is merging onto the freeway. when you come up to the light and another car lines up next to you, i cant help but mess with them. i wait till green, wait till they go maybe half a car length from a stop and i just punch it. i had my brother do it with his car and he said this thing gets really loud (in a rough sort of way) and just slingshots past. im just going to milk this ride as much as i can before i give it back.

How does insurance on a loaner car work? I hate to be the pessimist but you never know.

Nissan has it insured as far as what I was told. same thing when driving other press cars before. If I get hit or hit someone, I just dont get to drive another one the next time. As long as you are an insured driver, and dont do something stupid, it should be fine.

The reason I ask is because a dealer gave me a loaner car while mine was in the shop.

I have a spotless driving record, never been pulled over and drive like an old man.

Three days later I am driving in the far left lane northbound on a five lane (total of 10 lanes in both direction) highway - a Cadillac CTS driving in the far right lane decides to drive at a 90degree angle across all lanes in order to make a U-turn around and BAM: t-bones me in the loaner car.

He then drove off. Damage to the loaner car: fender, bumper, hood, passengers side door, pushed axle into the transmission, new axle, new transmission, new control arm, new wheel, new strut/spring, new radiator, new condenser, motor mount, head light, turn signal and paint.

Cops caught him a block away, his car stalled when it ran out of trans fluid and coolant. Charged him with reckless and failure to yield. Michigan is a "no-fault" state, so Mr. Pinball Wizard didn't owe me a dime.

    Fuck Michigan.
Turns out CTS man is a doctor and owns a Lexus and Corvette to supplement his CTS. How noble of him as a Doctor to leave the scene of a wreck with potential injured persons.

Anyway, just trying to help others after my own painful experience.

    Epic GTR btw.

ah well thats not how this one works. let me clarify.

I have had my TL in for service at Acura and they give me a loaner TL or TSX/RDX before. they get my insurance info. if i crash or get into an accident, MY insurance pays for it. so i try my damnest to drive the loaner as if its my car.

now for this GT-R press car, from what my friend (who set this up) told me, Nissan will foot the bill regadless of who's at fault. now i dont know if thats how other manufacturers cover their press cars, but at least for this particular one, that is how it worked.
