Thread: N\A Intake Disect.

Yes. This is the one, it did 229. I may change to the NA runners later this year, just to see where the power band ends up and to see what kind of numbers I can put down above 7000 RPM.
My torque and hp levels never drop on the dyno chart till rev limit kicks in. 2 years ago I ran with no upper ruuners at all. Just velocity stacks only.
That was a mistake. Only made power from 5600 to 7200. That made for an extreamly dificult week at NG09. Had to leave the foot on the floor at all times. grrrrr.
The fun part is the effects of the ram air. And will never show on the floor dyno. But your Butt Dyno will tell you 229 is a scam. And those numbers are with an NA ECU.
Now if I just find to tune it, I might do some good this year at NG.

I'm sure the car feels nice. When you gonna throw in the 11:1 or even 12.5:1 pistons? (if you have many E85 stations around you)

Theoritically those would bring in a decent amount of hp.

I would like to see a Car on the dyno with 3SX's high compression Pistons.

Me tooooooo! This is our test bed. So for the most part we have only improved breathing on a stock block. And no!!! This is NOT a nice car to drive. That's like saying a busting bronko bull is a nice ride. LOL.
This car could never be a DD again. When your foot goes down, you had better be prepared to go to work. This is all business and no time to play. I hope the new LSD will help make this car a little easier to handle. Even in 3RD gear, at 80 MPH,
you are fitting the steering wheel from being ripped from your hands as the tires will auction off traction to the lowest bidder. What a blast.
I will end up building an other block. And will be 12.5 to one. I just don't know what size. I was wishing to stay true as I could to the 3.0. But, for the same money I could do 6G74 with 12.5s to1.
I will most likely retire the short block I have been running to a DD car fore some one. Has about 70,000 beaten miles on. A new set of bearing and should go an other 120 no prob.
I see Nelson has a 3.6 w/12.5s and alum rods for sale. $5,500 is a steal. Damn I what that. Been playin lotto for it. LoL. bet I could put the interior back in and still run well.
I will make race gas or something. I am not a fan of E85. Not for NA anyways. Use of E85 increases oil imports. not lessen them. Corn is the SUV of all plants. It takes so much nitrogen to grow corn, and they get that from oil you know.
So if we all used E85, imports of oil would have to go up. Funny how that works.

You sir are my new friend lol. and yes I was impressed with the numbers you got out of your N\A. and I know what you mean about fighting the steering wheel. All I got done to my car is 3SX downpipe, No Cat, and a Intake, and Tires usually brake loose in 1st and start spinning alot, then 2nd gear is followed by alot of tourqe steer. it was like this before the "Mods" if you can even consider them that. Part of my problem tho I think is the harder rubber I have up front. not very gummy at all.

Glad to see some N\A guys in this generation of cars.

Did good at the NG. Passed a few VR4s and stayed out front of most VR4s on the road course. Not just stock ones. There was 2 that I had no chance of catching. That makes me feel good. I was told by one driver that he had 15 lbs boost in the straits and there was nothing he could do about me passing him. An other asked if I had a single turbo or NOS. When I say all motor, I end up having to pop the hood. I don't think anyone believes I am still stock lower end. LoL.

what's the weight on your car? i understand you're making ~220fwhp. i'm curious to see what your hp/weight ratio is compared to vr4's. if you're 1000lbs lighter with nearly the same HP...i'm not surprised.

I will weigh in again shortly. But I don't think I am under 2900. My HP is up a bit from last year. more like 250 at the wheels and the NT05 competition road course tires made a big dif. Alot less spinning. And the SOHC trans helped as well.
The new VR4 ecu was perfect. Best throttle responce ever.

SOHC trans is identical to a DOHC trans.

I was sure they were the same as well. They have the same part #s from what I could tell. But than I was told different, and my RPMs did seem a tad higher in the first four gears. Called cherryhilltryplex and they told me the gears are for sure a little different. but final drive the same. I only asked about the 99 SOHC trans. Now I have a few trans I can pull apart and check for sure. If in fact they are the same, my car is doing much better than I thought.

The F5M33 has the same gearing across the board. I have had SOHC and DOHC transmissions in my car and the RPM's have not changed one bit from trans to trans.
