I wasn't go to say anything about this to anyone or at least to very few people. You know, failing is no fun especially in front of everyone. But I figure why not, maybe it will keep me motivated. Last year when I posted about finally benching twice my weight (213lbs, benched 435lbs) Someone posted a link to the world records for my age an weight. (Masters III age 50-54, weight 199-220lbs.) The record is 420 raw (raw means no shirt with a leaf spring in it). At first I thought cool but didn't really think that was right or possible. So I've been researching the various power lifting organizations and turns out they are all about there are less. So I signed up for a competition June 4th. It's not a national or wold meet so I can't break the world but I can get the U.S. record. Been reading the rules and learned that just getting the weight up isn't suffecient it must be done clean an neat (hands even no shifting etc.) In other words you have to make it look easy and in control. Yesterday I had some guys help me and I wen through a routine just like a contest.
first lift 405 - clean and easy
second lif 420 - pretty easy - right and was a little lower than left don't know if it would have counted.
third lift 420 - pretty easy concentrated on hand level. clean and neat.
So here's the plan.
june 4th get AFR usa record. currently 413.4lbs
August - go to Europa get ISA world record 325 just for fun.
September AFR world meet break the world record. 412.5. bench only. Some russian guy has 420 in the
bench/squat/deadlift. That's what I want to beat.
I'm also trying to figure out if I can get down to 198lbs and take those records as well.
