i've done that before on a hot engine... it's fine if you run the coolant system bone dry first.

precisely why traditional radiator caps were 2-stage. you could "crack" the coolant system open without actually pulling off the cap. yes, it would spooge hot goop everywhere; but it wouldn't shoot upwards because of the safety-lock on the cap.

I can't see the vid at work, but I've done it before too. Tried to release the pressure slowly, but it forced it's way out anyhow, and I guess I got scared and just pulled it off and ran.

The heat of the coolant wasn't too bad, and I didn't get all that wet or anything... but coolant on electronics is no bueno.
