oil light is flickering on and off????

the little genie lamp is flickering on and off on my vr4. just started doing this. I checked my oil levels and they were about halfway between the notches and put some oil to thetop of the second notch. still flickering. not seeing any smoke, or burnt oil smell or anything. car is running like normal, oil pressure is at about 20psi idle and 40-60psi driving. Thats how it has always been since forever. Anyone know why this light is doing this? its not steadily on, just intermittently.

If you have a real oil pressure gauge, which it sounds like you do, and the light is flicking but you have good pressure, its most likely the sensor for low oil pressure going out.

Edit: Just read your mod list, and you do have a real gauge, 99% chance its a bad pressure sensor for the light

It's right next to the stock oil pressure gauge sendor. Back side of the block, right above the driver side front axle.

Make sure the connector isn't loose going to the sending unit. I've had that happen before where it wasn't make a solid connection and would flicker.

Same. Loose harness will cause it to mess up. Sensor replacement is easy too.

If it goes to ground, the light comes on. Just saying.
