Classic? Negative. I can only comment on the recent increase in frequency of attacks and vulnerabilities on Mac OS. When your stuff gets hacked in 5 seconds that's never a good sign.

...and yet, for some unknown reason, you endured it? hell, if this is the "apple experience" of today, and it's supposedly "so much better than before" i'd be downright LIVID if i had to put up with the old crap.

and you know what? the best indicator of future performance is past performance. so i'm going stick with "situation does NOT look good for apple".

    p.s.
    now who is the fanboy?

    p.p.s.
osx is like using IE6....only worse.

I remember reading about Pwn2Own contest when it happened, but do you recall them ever saying exactly what vulnerability they found? I read the bad with the good, but I don't recall that very important point ever being identified. For all we know it was "ohh h3y l00k guyz, I m4de SaFaRi AuT0-quitz!! Vulnerability f0uNd!" Was it, actually, a vulnerability with Flash? Or perhaps Java? Do we blame Apple for this if it was?

Regardless, my point was simple, and it still stands. Mac OS X, completely rebuilt compared to OS 9, incorporated techniques to make it less susceptible to massive and system-shattering attacks. Gone are the days of corruptible extensions, conflicting control panels, etc. So yes, on a system level (ie: not just a browser bug), Mac OS is more secure and stable (not vulnerable-free) than it's ever been.

PS - One 'news-worthy' attack a year, which is nothing more than an app that poses as a legit app to score credit cards, hardly is an 'increase in frequency'. Come on man, be reasonable.

I'm not reading this whole damn thread, but I thought I'd just comment on the fact that it's actually 100% easier to spot an Apple fanboi than a PC one (do PC "fanboi's" even exist?) You guys wear all your merchandise, dress nicely, show it off in Starbucks, and on top of it all, the damn Apple store is ALWAYS cluttered with clueless morons who don't know how to GET THE F OUT OF YOUR WAY WHEN YOU WANT TO GET TO THE DAMN FOOD COURT!

Vacuum reduction, Powdercoated misc, cruise relocate, Evo9 BOV, Custom catch cans, Russell fuel filter, SS braided fuel lines, High flow fuel loop, Autogage fuel gauge, Catless DP, DNP Y-pipe, Fuel pump hotwire.

    I'd agree with that.

But yeah, I think there's fanbois for every brand. Just about.

DailyTech - Leaked Docs Showcase Apple's Meticulous Control of Retail Store Employees

oh look. now you can't have a personal opinion about apple--if you want to stay employed with them. hell the CINC is my boss and i can publicly disagree with him (even if i still have to obey orders).

So they're being trained how to be efficient sales people (staying away from negative terms like 'unfortunately', etc). Check.

This isn't something exclusive to Apple, hate to break it to you. This is Marketing and Sales 101.

there's very few things i'm a fanboy of. ...but i'm an ANTI-fanboy of a lot more stuff. just a short list:

    bob nardelli
chrysler in general--but especially the crossfire
    xbox
    honda civic
    apple
"domestics-only" rednecks (they're the same ones who always yell about mitsubishi making the zero)
    3rd-party shovelware...especially when it's on the wii
    FPS's designed principally for consoles
1080p resolution (and 16:9 or "flatter" resolutions in general)
    gloss tv and monitor screens
the cost of mobile GPU cards
    LMI

i could go on...but i think i've made my point.

steering language is one thing. crushing any dissenting opinions among employees is quite another. in typical itard fashion, you completely missed that part.
